Look at the 'players GI' lines like the APEX CF19, Hot metal pro, P790, etc. Small heads, good forgiveness, small-ER toplines - but you're not going to find 'max forgiveness' and 'thin toplines' in any kind of 'GI' iron. It's a give/take.

Players GI TM P790 for sure....forgiveness, feel, minimal offset and looks.

Those are 'SGI' aka 'Super Game Improvement' - again, its just semantics of the golf industry. I thought you meant the category under that which are a little more advanced.

Idk I think those are considered GI irons. Aren’t irons like P790, T200, and Apex19 considered Players Distance Irons?

To my perception p790, i500 etc are not GI irons, but players distance iron, which should fall in a different category. SGI are G700 and the like.

 

Am I missing something?

M5 doesn't have a ton of offset. I think close to P790, maybe less. I would think they are still in GI category.

It's down to 410 and HM. 410 wins the forgiveness award for it's killer high MOI and high bounce sole. HM looks a little better and sounds better, finish is more durable too. Can't go wrong with either.

Srixon z585 irons. They are nearly perfect.

If G410's are in the mix than it's G410's.

 

They are super easy to hit, at address only the 4 iron and maybe the 5 iron you can see the back flange. I mean they are not small irons but they are easy to hit and the shorter clubs look decent because of the shorter blade length

 

Plus only the Ping G series have the "good players can still use these" panache

I notice looking at a lot of those offerings that, to me, they often look like Ping G irons, at least the sole.

PXG 0211. Same ilk as the other hollow-bodied, filled irons (G700, P790) but is actually designed as an attractive “combo set”. Super game Improvement in the long irons and players in the short. The brand, price and longer blade length might put some people off but I had love at first hit. If you are able to obtain the hero pricing or buy from someone who can, as I did, they are a great deal. At least give them a chance with a free fitting. I’m glad that I did.

Went for a fitting for both the 410s and the HMs. Liked them both. Neither had the dispersion of my 2017 Cleveland HB Launchers. Both new irons went farther and had a bit flatter ball flight, than my Launchers. I can crush my HB 4 iron and it's straight. Couldn't replicate that with the HMs or the 410s. Stuck with the Launchers and saved some money. You can get the Launchers now for $400 4 - PW. I have the stock stiff graphite shafts.

They may be ugly, but they flat out perform. Give em a try/look if you don't need have a 2019 set of irons. FYI - I'm a 9 capper.
