The only way to seriously answer this question would be to limit it to definitive metrics like MOI. I’m also assuming, based on the original post, this is only talking about full sets on the pga tour, no split sets with a outlier 4 or 5 iron and no Senior Tour. I’m that case, I think i210s would take it followed closely by the Titleist AP2/T100 according to the MOI ratings. I know a couple of guys play i210 and lots of players bag the AP2s. Forgiving clubs are more prevalent on tour than some might expect.

Monty has played GI clubs his whole career. 2002 Big Bertha's at the 2004 (?) Open Championship which are huge, and shot a 64 one round. When he signed with Hogan he tried playing blades for a bit and it didn't work out. Went to CFT (Hogan GI) irons and played much better. Even some tour players prefer a wide sole and some offset.

Pretty sure he won the '92 Masters with the Lynx Parallax irons - which I had back then as well. I guess you could call them "game improvement" for the time - they were effectively what you see in, say, Titleist 718 CBs. I dunno if he ever gamed the Black Cats - which I also had and STILL have in my closet - which were a clever mix of something like a Ping Eye 2 with a polymer insert that went around the inner edges of the cavity.

Man, those Parallax were awesome.

He won the Texas Valero open with the AP1's - 2012 model (712).

I would not include the outlier 4 or 5 iron but I would like to know about Senior Tour guys who play forgiving clubs. In addition to MOI, metrics that can be used are bounce and sole width as these provide forgiveness as well.

I think he almost won the masters with Adams game improvement clubs.

This is going back away but K.J. Choi used a blended set of Nike Ignites and the original Nike blade when he first signed with them. He would use the Ignites as long irons. Rory Sabbatini had a full set of the Ignites in the bag for a year or so when he was at his "best". Immelman won the Masters with Nike CCI Cast irons and at the same time (perhaps a little bit later) had the Sumo Square hybrid in the bag. Tim Herron still uses the Eye 2 that he gets remade each year. When I was at the Canadian Open this year there were quite a few Callaway pros using the Apex Pro irons which are pretty forgiving.

Taylormade R510TP - Speeder 757 Sonartec NP-99 14* and 17* - NV Green 85 Nickent Genex 3DX 21* - Dynamic Gold SL Titleist 660 4-P - Dynamic Gold Cleveland 54* and 59* - Dynamic Gold Scotty Cameron Teryllium

It was actually the above-referenced R7 irons he had the Masters in the bag with two holes left in the tournament.
