Anyone ever see this happen to a fairway wood?

It is a Callaway Big Berth Pro (tour issue) 16* fairway wood. It was orig. navy but I had it refinished last year from Continental Golf in the grey/silver. It was by far my most favorite fairway wood I've ever used. I'm so bummed right now. I'm sure there is no warranty luck with this right?

Wow. That is a full failure.

Not sure about the warranty but I’d sure reach out to Callaway and give it a whirl. Never know.

I'd say it's unlikely more for the "tour issue" part than anything else. Those aren't for the general public and probably not protected by any warrantee. Doesn't hurt to try though!

Even if it were eligible for a warranty you pretty much threw that option out the window the moment you had it painted.

That is what I figured as well. I had my club get me a M5 fairway wood with my pro shop credit to try out... was just so bummed though because this was such a great club for me. One of those clubs you don't ever want to sell or let go. Hopefully the M5 will be just as good. Putting a Ventus Blue 8x in it.

Was on the range at The Country Club in Brookline, MA getting ready to play for the first time. They make you use these shitty flighted yellow balls and for some reason they are like concrete. Hit many flighted balls before but these were just horrific.

I've seen a crown crack or face crunch, but never both. In pre-thin face era, most head failures I saw came on larger drivers.

Looks like there must have been hidden damage before then and the range balls were the final straw. Not saying they aren't hard, but I've never had limited flight range balls damage any of my woods (to my knowledge, granted) so I would assume there were fractures in the head beforehand.

Possibly but I played the day before and club was totally fine and no signs of any issues. Will never know for sure but all good. Just hoping the M5 I got as a replacement will perform the same.

I have seen those fairway woods fail like that before.

This model came out around the time of Callaway REALLY pushing the limit to get their fairway woods as fast as possible ( crazy to think how fast they are now ) . BUT to get them fast meant that failure rate was a bit higher and in the case of your model and the original X HOT thats what most failures looked like. Not that common but not the first time I have seen one die like that.
