T100

I currently game a split set of Mizuno MP-18 MB (6-pw) and MP-18 Fli Hi (4-5). I am looking to go to a more forgiving players iron and was wonder what opinions or actual experience anybody has had in the forgiveness aspect between the two? For whatever reason i just cant seem to get the Fli His to work for me but the mbs are generally very food but very punishing on off days. What can i expect from a little added forgiveness in an iron such as the T100?

I have hit a demo T100 on the range and liked the look/feel but have never hit a shot on the course with them.

They’ll launch a good deal higher for starters. Can’t comment on mp18 because they don’t make lefty but compared to your average blade you’ll end up with a club that looks uglier, is tougher to maneuver shot shape but goes a couple yards further on misshits. I also think your attack angle will influence how much more forgiving they are. Mizzys are notoriously punishing for diggers...the reason I haven’t played them in a long time. The T100 camber is really set up to help that.

T100's look the part from address! Only hit them on a launch monitor however. If I was in market, they might be in bag. Only hit with them with Modus 120s. But had a little more ball speed then apex mb and 620 mb. If I wasnt playing really great with my i210 I would give them a through testing with DG 120's. For now i210 with DG 120 s300 have been amazing and are stating put.

I think they look really good too. I had a set of 712 AP2's a while back and have tried out the 714 and 716 AP2's and they were just a little too big for me visually and the soles were a little too wide. The T100s seemed to have corrected those issues and I like the progressive size from a little bigger in the long irons to a little more compact in the short irons. The feel was also very good, not pure blade good, but that is not what these irons are and they werent that far off to me.

I would like to see some info on how these compare to the AP2. I know they look more like a 718 CB from address but wondering if they are closer to that in terms of forgiveness level or closer to an AP2. Hard to believe they would be as forgiving as the 718 AP2 but I'm holding out hope. Wondering when the Maltby ratings come out for these because I do feel like that's helpful to see.

Loving the look and feel of the T100s. Also look at the MP20 MMC. Great looking and feeling too. Just remember, the MMCs are 2* stronger.

The T100 sounds like a winner, but have you considered the just-launched Mizuno MP20-HMB? They sound like you could stick to the look of a Mizzy with the forgiveness of the T100....although the lofts are jacked which might be off putting....

Would the MP20-MMC's not be more comparable to the T100's? I'm asking because I truly don't know but that is just what it seems from reading various sources. I have not seen these compared head to head yet but I'm very interested in both offerings.

I will likely look at the new Mizuno offerings as well. The lower lofts could be a problem but I will definitely give them a shot.

I would think the MMC is more next to the 620CB, I think the T100 has a lot more help than both of those built in....I'll happily stand corrected though.

Hit about 100 balls with a test T100 7 iron today at the range. Coming from playing the last 2 AP2 models it feels so much different. More solid feel but definitely like a totally different club. Performance seemed similar to AP2 718 with a bit more ball speed but was noticeably a little less forgiving but not too terrible. Still found it more forgiving than my 919 Tours so think I'm going to make the switch to these. Turf interaction was the best I've ever seen in a club I've used. Just having a hard time deciding what combo set to do with T100 1 deg strong. Would like to use the T200 5 iron and U500 4 iron but the gapping is so far off I'd have to use the T200 4-5 iron 1 deg weak but then don't get to use the U500 4 iron which I really like. What combo sets with T100/T200 and U500 did people order?

I'm for sure ordering T100 1 deg strong. If I went 5-PW I would do U500 4 iron standard.

Just more or less trying to find out if using the T200 5 iron is workable with this set along with U500 4 iron.

What is the particular reason for ordering the T100 1* strong? I’m sorry if that’s a dumb question but I’m trying to learn the technical aspects of the equipment.

Launch and spin are too high so going 1 deg strong brings it down a touch for me

When i did the fitting, my 7 iron was 17-18’ launch angle with 6500ish spin rate. Fitter said the ideal spin rate he wanted to see was 6800ish but didnt mention anything about going 1’ weaker to i crease the launch angle and spin rate. So i ordered mine in standard lie loft length. Should i have gone 1’ weaker?

No your numbers are pretty much spot on with what you'd want to see. Keep it standard for sure with 6500 spin since your launch is normal with a 7 iron. So long as your descent angle is optimal you will stop every 7 iron shot within a few feet of your ball mark on the green. If you play on harder surfaces you could just consider making a ball change for a touch more spin. Example going from ProV to Pro V1x would give you a bit more spin to help with that. Otherwise 6500 spin is very good still.

I just go 1 deg strong because my 7 iron launched 18.5 deg and I was spinning it over 7500 rpm. I play a low spin shaft and go 1 deg strong to make these numbers come down. I'm just a bit steep with my swing so I hit the ball quite high. Peak height is well above tour average with standard specs soo I struggle in the wind. Going 1 strong helps bring it down just a bit.

Ok thats a bigger difference compared to mine. Thanks for explanation.

For those of you guys who have tried out the T200 what did you think of those too? I tried out the T100 and T200 during my fitting and I thought I wouldnt like the T200 at all going in but actually thought they were very nice. The feel was good but they spun too much and had a little too much offset for me but I thought they were nice looking and feeling overall. I think they will be very popular.

T200 are stronger lofted and play to that. Find they have similar launch angles but ball speed is up and they fly higher and carry a full club longer. Turf interaction is good for the T200 but not nearly as good as T100 which is excellent. If you struggle getting the ball up really high and/or are a shorter hitter and want/need more forgiveness than go for T200, otherwise T100 is the much better iron overall. T200 will be way more popular for the average golfer but T100's are going to be very popular on tour and lower handicaps. I think the older AP2s were playable into the more mid handicaps but I don't think T100's are good for outside single digit handicap.

Thats probably the main reason that I liked the T100s so much. They took the things that I did not like about the AP2s (topline, offset, wider sole) and they corrected them in the T100s to make them a little more on the "player" iron side while also still not being as visually intimidating as a straight blade.

Still found it more forgiving than my 919 Tours so think I'm going to make the switch to these. Turf interaction was the best I've ever seen in a club I've used. I was launching my 7-iron at 20.3 Degrees, and they say it was perfect? (I thought it was a bit too high, personally). Descent Angle was 50 degrees. hmmmm that was with AMT Black, should I change to AMT White?

I'm not a club fitter but I would say I think you are right that it is launching too high and your descent angle is slightly on the higher side. Probably losing some distance because of this. Think the average tour player launch angle with 7 iron is around 16 deg with 7000 spin (they also play on rather firm greens so need the higher spin). Can't give you specifics on shaft changes and that's generally the more expensive route to go versus just getting your irons bent strong to help bring your numbers down.

I can give you more info though from my fitting after looking it back up for specifics but keep in mind this is from a 6 iron and using on trackman. I was launching on ave 21.7 deg, spinning 7500 rpm, landing angle 54 deg with KBS c taper 125 S+ but going to 130x brought it down to 18.0 deg, spin 6500 rpm, and landing angle 50 deg. Picked up 14 yards carry up to 195 yards with 6 iron from the shaft change which was nice since my trajectory was much more penetrating, but I still thought it was too high. Based on those numbers I decided to get my irons bent 1 strong on my own. Kind of curious as to why my fitter did not recommend that at the time though...

I went from a similar MP18 setup (FLI HI 3, SC 4-5, and blade 6-pw) and just added a new U500/T100 setup. Definitely feel like the extra help is...helping. Big perceived difference with 4, 5 and 6 iron especially with less-than-perfect strikes seeing little change in distance and dispersion compared to a slight miss with a blade.

The primary reason that I will be switching to T100 or a similar offering from another manufacturer is the long irons. The MBs from 7-pw are honestly probably perfectly fine for me because unless its a big miss-hit I have never noticed much punishment in terms of distance unless it was very deserved. I tried the long irons (4-6) in the MB (too unforgiving and small), SC (just didnt seem to work for me for some reason), and Fli-Hi (also just didnt seem to work for me for some reason) and they just didnt work. I used to be a very good long iron player and would even say it was a strength of my game. I am perfectly willing to admit that it may be my fault but it seems odd to just suddenly go from a good long iron player to suspect at best.

Placed my order for the T100 5-PW (my 4i is a Titleist TMB) last night with Dynamic Gold S300. Hit them at a Titleist fitting day a few weeks ago and loved them. Coming from my (now almost ancient) 712 AP2 irons I figured it was time for an upgrade. Hit the T200 as well at the fitting day but couldn’t get over the looks. I have no issues hitting my AP2 irons so was really no reason to go to the T200 as I’m not looking for more forgiveness at this point (but really, who couldn’t use it??).
