Andy's WITB 2019

Recommended Posts

## You've asked for it _(or not)_ . . . . . the much anticipated _(or not so much)_ . . . . What's In The Bag !

## Hi, i'm Andy and i'm new to the forums. I've played golf for a few years growing up between the age of 13 and 17. After becoming legally of age to drink, well, the golfing stopped. Now that i'm a bit older, 17 years later, I decided to get back into golfing my middle ages.

## I really enjoy this part of the forums to check everyone's setup, get some inspiration and find some relief knowing that i'm not the only person that applies some OCD into the hobby of golf :)## If you don't care so much for the stories and background, then I hope you enjoy the pictures :D

## After a week of a 30 EUR charity shop set of clubs, I decided to commit to the sport and go all in and fit myself for a new set, with the intention for them to last me quite some years. ## I say "fit myself", as I went for a fitting, knowing exactly what i wanted, based on the interesting conept of One Length clubs and the nice marketting by Cobra on the internet. I joined a course, paid my membership and after playing a few rounds, decided later what was best for me by myself and adpated my gear. ## It's quite a coincidence that the set I found in the charity store were almost identical to my father's set, which I inherited as a child - John Letters blades. ##To me, these are classic golf clubs. ## Retro, Vintage,Classic.

## I donated this startup set to a friend who is really keen to startup with golf, later i'll try to teach him some basics as an introduction.## I bought a really beatiful old school brass putter, it reminded me of my starter set of clubs and introduce some kind of respect towards my father and grandfather for teaching me how to play earlier on. I hope that I can get it back if my friend decides not to pursue the sport.

## After the fitting and having played for a few weeks, the changes i made were from my oringinal chosen Hybrid, Driver and putter and I was curious about the utility iron Cobra had to offer.## Shout out to Mike at Meteor Golf for having patience and good initial advice to get me going.

##So...to my current and final lineup _(and most importantly, the pictures)_ ;

## 1. King Cobra F9 Speedback Master's edition - Evenflow regular shaft. 10.5 degree tuned down to 9.## _(Initially, I had the Yellow and Black F9 Speedback with X-stiff Hazrdous shaft, but I really wanted the camo edition once I saw it)_DSC05764DSC05746## 2. King Cobra F9 21 degree One Length Hybrid baffler - UST Mamiya 780ES Recoil shaft.##_(Again, at the fitting, the TaylorMade M3 Rescue 21 degree was fitted to me. Later I found the length of the shaft put me off my game not being able to decide if I swing like a driver, or swing like an iron, so decided to go with the One Length Cobra)_## DSC05753## 3. One Length Cobra Forged Tec Black Irons ; 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, Pw, Gw - UST Mamiya 780ES Recoil shaft## DSC05748## DSC05762## 4. 3i Utility Driving Iron, 18 degree One Length Cobra Forged Tec Black Irons - UST Mamiya 780ES Recoil shaft## DSC05749## DSC05759## All my Cobra clubs come fitted with the Cobra Connect Lamkin blue grips. I found this initially pretty useful to check the ranges, distances of all the clubs. Will probably continue with the subscription later with the Arccos Caddy app for smartphone.## DSC05760## 5. Callaway MacDaddy4 Tactical Finish wedges, 56, 58, 60 in 10 degree bounce, Dynamic Gold Tour 200 shafts.## DSC05747## DSC05754## 6. Callaway / Odyssey Toulon Design Memphis putter, 38" with 50g weight and 50g counter weight.## _(Originally impulse bought the Odyssey White Hot Blade putter, custom fit the basic grip, bend it for a flat lie and extended it to around 37". Later, i did some research, wanted a heavier weighted putter and found the Toulon on E-Bay for around 180EUR)_## DSC05755## DSC05763## I'm pretty happy with the Callaway 2018 British Open Staff stand bag with matching headcovers. Really searching hard for the matching putter headcover, but can't find it anywhere, so i've picked up a "make it rain" headcover in the meantime.## DSC05745## DSC05761## DSC05758## DSC05756## I've Paired up the bag together with some matching patriotic balls from Callaway, Truvis Chrome Soft.## DSC05765

@KC13 I started with the 60 degree lob wedge, since my gap wedge had to do everything. I could then zoom into the 50m range better.

I got a little addicted by the wedges and wanted another one to space better between 50m and 80m, so i introduced the 56 degree.

The 58 was an impulse buy to be honest, combined with my ocd issues.

I'd been researching a lot and bought into the concept of the short game being most important, so i decided to invest more in that area.

With the 60 degree i can do a lot of high quick stopping shots from 20 to 50 meters.

The 56 just wouldn't open up at all, so i thought i could better gap the 50 to 80m range, giving some increased versatility with the chips.

My 58 is now my go to short range chips. I can't get the weighting and swing right to do it with the lob wedge.

For some reason, the 56 feels heavier and i push it too far.

58 to chip around the green, or at around 60m

60 to lob wide open 20-30m or full shot 50m

56 for anything between 60 and 80

My gap wedge fits 80-100m and further the pitching wedge 100-120.

I find it easier to space the short game based upon full of half swings.

The 58 seems to be the only one I can rely on for various swing variations.

Welcome!

Nice use of bokeh in the photos. It's always nice when the intended subjects in the photo are appropriately in focus :)

Nice clubs all around too. The 2* gaps between wedges are unusual as KC13 pointed out, but if they fit your game, then keep at it.

Hopefully you don't get too influenced by this forum and end up frequently switching clubs for no good reason like the rest of us :D

Unfortunately it's not so simple when it comes to one length clubs. Only my driver, and newly added 3 wood are longer.

I've taken the 5 and 6 irons out and replaced them with Utility clubs 19 degrees and 24 degrees, the hybrid sits nicely with the irons on the top shelf.

Due to the putter's grip being so thick, it needs a spot of it's own.

My final setup:

7,8,9,Pw,Gw

56, 58, 60 degree wedges

12 degree 3 wood, 9 degree driver, 21 degree hybrid

Utility 3, 19 degrees and Utility 5 24 degrees
