Thinking About Going Shorter And Heavier

Usually play 33”-34” around 360ish gram, thinking about going heavier any reviews from anyone using heavier and shorter putters , Ive tried the counterbalance but not for me

Have you considered going longer and lighter ?

I've observed lots of excellent putters using 35" to 36" putters with 310 to 325 gram head weights.

I've not seen any player putt especially well with a heavy head and short shaft. Some likely do, but I have not seen one.

I’d say go for it. Partial to a heavier head myself.

My piretti plays at 33” and 375g and I love it. Once you work out your speed with the additional mass behind the ball it’s great. I even put lead tape on my 33” NP2 with 20g weights to bring the weight up. Makes it really stable imo.

Back when they banned belly putters I cut down my Mid Sur to my normal playing length (34) and I thought I putted pretty well for awhile with the 370g head. However, my distance control on long putts suffered and I didn't putt very well on faster greens. This was several years ago now and since then I went to a shorter putter (33.5) and a lighter head (I try to get putters in the 340g range) and I have never putted better - especially on faster greens

If you have decent hands / feel, I think a lighter putter is the way to go. But everybody is different and everyone should experiment to see what works best for them.

I like heavier but balanced. Typical setup is 370-375g head, with a 100g grip and a 30g Tourlock installed 4 inches down the shaft. Putter does not feel “counterweighted” but it does smooth out my stroke. It feels like a heavier version of a 335-340g putter, if that makes sense.
