I'm thinking about ordering a custom My Spider, but wanted to know how the finish holds up? I hate to order one, and then if it doesn't workout, I'll have a hard time getting rid of it.

Thanks

I have had my myspider x for about a month and have had no paint issues. One of the issues i had with the spider tour I had was the paint would flake/chip away around the insert and to me the spider x seems to be much better in this regard. My spider x is black.

I would also caution that if you are going myspider x that if you use a different face color than white that it will likely be an aluminum insert that is louder and much harder feeling than the surlyn insert in the retail models. My first myspider x i ordered i ordered with a black insert not even considering that it would be a different material. First putt i took was uh oh, this feels and sounds completely different. They gave me a one time credit and told me the surlyn was on the white face only so i reordered with the white face. Just something to consider unless it has changed in the last month or so.

I got a MySpider X in early June and have used it for 25+ rounds and have had no issues with it and still looks mint. I've had a couple different Spiders though and haven't had any paint chips. Just be careful when going up to the green with it and carrying other clubs if you don't have a cover on it.

I think carrying other clubs and having them smack into each other is a main cause of the paint chips on the spiders. My friend and I both have a spider tour and his has a handful of chips in it but he always carries it together with other clubs for shots around the green. I always keep my headcover on until I use it on/near the green. Otherwise we both keep good care of them with no slamming or throwing or anything.

I have had my Spider X since the release in February and no paint chips/marks/flaking whatsoever. I think a lot of it comes down to using the headcover as much as humanly possible. Also I try not to wear my Tungsten wedding band when I golf so it does cause any accidental chips, etc on the shaft or the head

I would say the paint chips easier than many other putters but keeping the headcover on as much as possible and not carrying it with other clubs to/from the green is a good start to keeping it from chipping. If you are one who beats on your putter and doesnt take care of it you will need to expect chips and dings on any painted putter.

Great putter design but their QA is far from good. My first Spider had several small paint chip issues. It doesn't impact performance though. Resale value isn't good though as TM floods the market with Spiders and then floods the market again the next year with a slightly different spider model. Don't buy one based on that though. Buy it because you really want it. And if the money bothers you, buy a used one you like.

This is the correct response. Until I switched putters within the past month, I had used a Spider of some sort since 2013 and the only chips I ever had were when something banged into the head. They were usually from a wedge when walking to/from a green. The paint doesn't just flake off on its own. Similarily, Camerons don't get top line dings on there own.

I was lucky enough to win a MySpider here on WRX. I’ve had it for months and use it almost daily between practicing and playing. Zero chips whatsoever. I use the headcover all the time including walking to and from the green and while in the bag. The only time it goes without the cover is when I’m using it.
