Actually, Scotty Cameron has done this before, in an article with GOLF magazine, he stated he price his putters to a price the market would support, this marketing ploy, in my opinion was followed by PXG, I am sure you can find post here bashing them when they first introduced $1,200 plus iron sets.

Now, many don’t even blink an eye. A driver today costs more than my complete PING set in ‘82, including a BECU putter.

$1,200 iron sets are nothing new and PXG certainly did not pioneer that price point.

Callaway Great BB titanium irons were over $2,000 in the late 90s. The Biggest BB was $600 when it was released.

The list goes on and on. I’ll say it again, golf clubs are pretty affordable relative to what they cost 20 years ago.

Factor in annual release cycles and playing with pro-line equipment has never been more affordable. Back in the 90s it was typical to see boxed sets out there than a full bag of whatever pro-line manufacturer.

By solid do you mean with or without the adjustable weights? The adjustable weights are here to stay definitely.

The talk over at TCC before it tanked was that the Hideki putter you mentioned will be similar to the next OTR Select release. I also think that's a a great move, but everyone will still b**** anyways.

I think everyone in this thread is well aware that we aren’t getting anything the tour pros use. I could be wrong but I can’t think of a single tour pro that uses a Scotty putter that we can buy off the shelf. We get a watered down version with a story about tour feedback and smoother lines and beveled edges.

I’m not saying the product isn’t as good, or better, than most others out there. I’m just saying the economics don’t support Scotty mass producing putters made from GSS because putters made from the most premium materials are going to bring an even higher price point. Whatever putter comes out will be polarizing because of the brand.

Two things are almost certain.

1.) It’s HIGHLY UNLIKELY the off the rack offering will find its way into a PGA Tour player’s bag.

2.) Us lefties will get the shaft and get 2 options and complain about that as well. ?

Sorry, by “solid” I meant no insert.

hopefully they go back to a solid putter but you have to look at it from the normal golf consumer perspective. Golf clubs that have the latest gadgets, gizmos and tech add on's sell more than plain jain clubs to these buyers. That is why you see these inserts etc. on the OTR releases to the public, trying to reach the masses over the tour golfer/better player.
