TS2 in Cold Weather

Bought a TS2 this year and we are told how thin the face and crown are to get bettter COG. I’m sure it’s the same with most current drivers. I play year round in Memphis including in the 30’s and 40’. Should I hit in cold weather for fear the face cracking? My back up would be a 915 D2 which has been thru several winters.

Its more hitting range balls that are left outside that is a problem. I dont hit my driver on the range when its get to 4-5 celcius.

There are a huge number of golfers who live in colder climates than you and their drivers don't tend to combust when it gets chilly. I think you should be okay.

Personally I only game an older driver in the cooler start and end of the season. I've had a couple crack on me in the past during that time of year so I just don't bother chancing ones I like more. Current is a 983K or 9015D steel shafted, which are just cool to bring out from time to time anyway... but I have a couple more heads, so not as worried.

I’m from Canada and have never had an issue. I play down to freezing. I do not however go blast balls on the range as no ranges are open.

I had one fail at a domed range and another at a course, both days were around 5*, so now 8* and lower I don't play some stuff. Mind you this was 10+ years ago with a Tour issue Adams BTY 4350 and Cally FT-9 Tour.

I remember Ping put a tweet out a year or so again saying that they test there clubs in very cold and very hot temperatures. Can’t remember the exact temps but it was much colder than anyone would play in.

Coldest I've played in was a windchill of -12*C (I think that's about 10*F for the Yanks?), have never had a problem with any club nor has anyone I know around here. I might rotate balls when they start to feel a little too firm to a warm one from my pocket, but that's about it.

Hit balls outside all winter (they are warm though and not frozen)

 

Only had 1 cracked face on a 3w. Broke more on super hot days to be honest
