I tried to watch the first parts of the matches but they were just excruciating, I lasted about a half hour but I couldn't do it. Tom Abbott pointed out there is no reason to play this slow, its windy and cold in Scotland a good part of the year and people dont play 6 hour rounds - even in matches.

Strained left thumb a few weeks back and been in a splint. Went to the range today to test it out. Nope hurts like hell on impact with the ground. Had to change my grip so my left thumb actually sits on top of my right thumb. HIVE championship will be interesting. Playing tomorrow so a good test run. One thing is for sure, I’m not over swinging. Might need to play from the whites at Worthington.

I understand, I have osteoarthritis in my left thumb, when it hurts, I need to move my thumb to a baseball grip.

ISO a quality 5 wood with 19 degrees loft with a high launch/low to mid spin. Stiff is preferred but will take a strong regular. Not looking to be more then $150 (I’m cheap). I play an M3 driver and M6 3 wood.

I didn’t try the baseball grip. I’ll try tomorrow morning a few times as I warm up on the range and see how it feels.

Yeah, I know...sounds stupid, right? A bunch of disconnected reasons. First, it's $1000...cheap for the function but still $1000. Second, every time I upgrade one aspect of my technology universe, something else goes out of whack...like that time I bought a Sony TV only to discover that it wants to live in an Android universe. Third, I don't like the facial recognition aspect; I want a home button. Fourth, phones are getting larger (and heavier), but my pants pockets aren't. Men's pants should always have a cell phone pocket. Fifth, it's $1000. Sixth, I have this lingering sense that Apple has lost its way. I miss Steve Jobs, who had an elevated understanding of human factors engineering. Seventh, I dunno, there's probably another reason or two.

No it doesn't sound stupid. Unless you're just really into tech (or status) or $1000 really doesn't mean anything to you (and that's fine. $1000 doesn't mean the same thing to everyone.) , it's gotten a bit ludicrous. Its very much like believing that a $500 driver every two years is going to be an upgrade.

 

I had a Pixel (on Google Fi) and it got cruddy after a few years just like everything else. I went "backwards" on my next one... I got a $100 Motorola Moto G6. I can't name one thing it can't do that the other phone could. We don't ask ourselves "what am I looking for in my phone?" and try to answer that question across all options. We ask ourselves, "should I get an iPhone (or Pixel or Note)?" and try to justify that purchase. When we're at that stage, the marketers have won.

When I turned off the Solheim last night they were talking about slow play. When I turned it on this morning they were talking about slow play and Kang's group being put on the clock and already having one bad time each. In an event like this as a tv viewer, its impossible to notice I think. There are so many things going on at once that the producer can flip you back and forth to different matches. But its also not a good look in your premier event to have the rules official in the booth constantly explaining the bad time rule and how much time you have to hit a shot.

 

As someone with significant experience playing with a bad back - Lexi still looks very off, dont care how much they say that shes improved since she teed off. She just had her caddie tee up the ball for her too.
