New 95g iron shafts - 75 g wood shafts too heavy??

Hi all,

I was recently fitted for a Mizuno MP 18 combo set of irons. I was fitted with Regular 95g Recoil graphite shafts. My woods are Ping G400/G25 with Stiff Tour 80 shafts. I have the feeling that the shafts in the woods are too heavy and too stiff. I've gone back to my old 65g Stiff Fujikura Motore F1 shafts from my R9 driver and 3 wood. This combo feels more natural and I am timing the irons much better. I've also got a Graffalloy Blue Regular shaft in the R9 driver which goes really well. What modern shaft would you recommend? I've thought about the Tour 65 Stiff and the standard Alta CB 55 stiff. I did try the Alta CB 55 regular, but the dispersion was awful.

What would you recommend as a good fit with Recoil iron shafts?

I'm 65, playing to 6 handicap with an old fashioned deliberate swing.

I'm 58 and play TTDG 95s in my irons with Aldila NV 55s in my driver & woods.

Guys with a deliberate swing like yours won't see much shaft loading and thus minimal to no added dynamic loft at impact. Play whatever shaft feels good to you.

The Adila Synergy Blue 50 might be a good shaft to try. The Stiff flex comes in at 60 grams, but even the Regular flex plays on the firmer side and comes in at 58 grams. And it should still be stable enough and provide a nice kick.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm looking on eBay at a Stiff Aldila Rip'd 65g White shaft at a reasonable price. What do you think?

To close this thread.

I've fitted a stiff Ping Tour 65 to my driver and stayed with the Tour 75 in my 4 wood. It all seems to fit in nicely with the new irons.
