Miura Iron Experts - Which model is your favorite?

I'm just thankful Miura & greater JDM market is around and viable. Quality one piece forgings will always remain in my bag. Carry Maruman's now, have eyes on new OnOff series or older247 MB, the 501's look great to me too. BB's are always tempting but in general I like more face on an iron.

Miura is not a 1 piece forging but yeah, JDM quality is tops. Mac Gregor, Wilson and Spaulding used to be right up there but now JDM is Top tier.

I'm aware of spin weld, which is way superior to multi-material construction or true "one-piece".

The MB001 are much much better IMO the sole grind makes a huge difference

CB-57. I've hit almost every model of Miura over the past 2 decades and the CB-57 offers the perfect blend of power and workability.

The CB-57 were the first irons I switched to after using Miura Tournamant Blades. At the time there was a perception that cavity backs weren't as long as blades because they weren't as solid. With the '57's I didn't have a drop-off in distance from the Tournament Blades.

I liked the MB001 better than the MB101. Sold the 101 promptly after a few rounds. Save money and buy the 001.

+1 for PP9003. Lots of people overlook these but they're simply solid performers.

I’d rank them 1. Baby Blades 2. MB001 3. CB57, though for my skills the CB57 fits the best. Really not a difficult club to play. I also like the look of the CB1008 and CB2008.

The tournament blades will dig graves while the Mb001 are much more efficient through the ground due to the leading edge relief

MC 501 and CB 57 for their looks and performance. pictures are deceiving. The Cb 57 is much smaller than I had expected. Perfect in every way from the offset, forgiveness, shapes, workability and feeel. MC 501 was slightly bigger than I had expected. I can’t think of a muscle backed iron that is easier to play. Also looks amazing

Baby blades are very fun but not practical for me. On stock shots they are great but when working the ball I just didn’t have as much confidence.

I see you have the TC 201 at the bottom of you list? Any particular reason for that?

With it being a new model there aren't really any long term reviews on these. I've heard them compared to the 1008 which is 3rd on your list.

Would be interested if your comments are based on looks or playability.

I presently own the CB•1008 and I've had a bit of time with the TC•201, but I don't own a set.

 

In terms of appearance, I don't see what others see between the two. I would say the TC•201, and CB•57 look at address, most similar. The CB•57 being more "square and high toe".

 

Playability, again, I'd say the TC-201, play very similarly to the CB•57.

 

I'm a bit spoiled.

 

I buy Miura, and I buy Miura that REALLY fits my eye (second criteria is turf interaction). The toe of the TC•201 is not a favorite of mine. But I do like a lot of other things about the head. But, won't be enough to purchase a set, for me.

 

Has the Miura feel. Has the Miura look. Has the thump. Their turf interaction varies a touch, I prefer a touch of leading edge relief on my Irons. I know, I know, Baby Blades are at the top and don't have leading edge relief.

 

You won't be disappointed with the TC•201 if you love the address look. Just not my soup du jour.

Appreciate the feedback. I've owned a few sets of Miura's myself ( Baby Blades, CB-57, CB 2008 and CB 501's ) so I know exactly about the feel you are describing.

I love the look of the TC-201 now I just need to be patient until I can get fitted.

I have just had my first experience with the CB 57s. Got a good deal on em after eyeing them for years. They are impressive and will be my set I play this year. They will be hard to replace one day. I am definitely looking to purchase another set in the near future for when they wear down. That little bar behind the sweet spot just gives the feeling of the ball exploding off the face and the little click at impact is what I have been looking to find for years. They are very accurate as well. Not sure how the rest of their irons play, but these are great for me.
