toss up between 3 courses for me

- texas star golf course - one of the best courses i've ever played. usually in good shape. preffered when i got the euless resident discount, but still play it when i can

- riverside golf club - inexpensive, fun layout that is not overly punishing, where i like to go when i haven't played in a while and have so room to spray the ball a bit

- bear creek golf club, west course - i love the west course and hate the east course, i don't know why. if it has been a while since i've played i might stay away because if i am spraying the ball, its a real unpleasant round of golf

1. Pecan Hollow in Plano (18 holes)

2. Firewheel Park in Garland (36 holes; Lakes and Old. 27 holes at the Bridges Petty much ; Masters, Traditions, Champions)

3. Sherrill Park in Richardson (36 holes; #1 and #2)

4. Watters Creek in Allen (18 holes and 9 hole par 3)

 

All of these are within 6 miles of my home. Pretty much heaven.

No love for muny?

Muny has sub-par conditioning, boring greens (no internal contours, just big slopes), tons of rocks near and in the playing corridors, and lots of "safety trees" that choke lines of play.

 

It's not a particularly fun course to play, but it's still a gorgeous spot with the Westlake hills visible from most holes.

 

From a practice perspective, it makes no sense to play there because of how few times I can hit driver (and the range is irons-only).

 

Man, this whole thing could not be more accurate, which is unfortunate but Muny is technically my "home course" because it's the closest one to my house not named Austin Country Club.

No home club but I bounce around from Texas Star, Sherrill Park, Coyote Ridge, Ridgeview Ranch, River Chase and wherever else I can put a peg in the ground.

It's an amazing thing when your putting stroke feels good and the greens are beautiful out there. If you read the putt right, you're liable to drop a few 25 footers out there.

Eagle Pointe in Mont Belvieu, it's been a bit soggy lately but the greens are always in great shape and it's a beautiful walk. Definitely worth the drive from Houston if you haven't played it.

Eagle Pointe in Mont Belvieu, it's been a bit soggy lately but the greens are always in great shape and it's a beautiful walk. Definitely worth the drive from Houston if you haven't played it.

 

I was a member there for a couple of years after Evergreen closed down. I’ve played more golf there in the last few years than anywhere else.

 

Now that my wife plays, and since she is really horrible that course is a bit too tough for her, we’ve been playing a lot at Chambers County in Anauhac. Though she likes Battleground in Deer Park, so we might join there. $139/month for unlimited golf and range isn’t bad if you play enough.

Due to proximity, Tension Highlands in Dallas. Pretty good shape most weekends.

 

I played a lot of golf there when I was a kid in the 1960s. Great fun.

i play most rounds at black hawk in pflugerville. very easy to get on and get around. i show up, check in, and head for the first tee every time. zero wait. great layout. greens are fine. course could be in better shape, but i really enjoy it. 3 times a week. great deal for seniors. $60 a month membership, then $15 cart fee per round. definitely saves me money. other 3-4 rounds a week are mostly at mo willy. it's funny, but you start developing friends, so you wind up going there. ryan at BH is a redsox fan, so we talk baseball before i go out. fred at mo does crosswords, so i like to see if i can help if he's stumped. kizer is a little bit further down, so it gets played once every 2 weeks.

Spring or early summer, but it’s still great in the fall considering it cools off a bit here and it’s very well taken care of.

I usually play Corpus Christi Country Club on the weekdays (on the way home from work) and Northshore CC in Portland on the weekends, but it varies if there are tournaments or other events going on at the clubs.
