Denver Area Golf Sep 18-20

Heading to Denver with a friend of mine who happens to be a head pro at a golf course. He’s able to call around to some of the private courses and get us on albeit not at the elite private courses. We’re going to try to squeeze in 4 rounds in 3 days. We’re looking to do some combo of Red Hawk Ridge, Arrowhead, Bear Dance, and the Ridge on one of the days. Any other suggestions? Proximity isn’t a big issue as we’re only going to play 18 on the other two days and will have access to a car. Any course suggestions? Would it be worth playing all 4 of them or would that be a little redundant? Any private courses worth looking into?

If you've never played here before, then I probably would recommend Arrowhead. It is a very pretty course (but not challenging). Of the other three, Bear Dance should absolutely considered followed by The Ridge in a close second. I wouldn't consider Red Hawk Ridge unless you really need an ego boost. For non-elite private courses, perhaps consider Bear Creek Golf Club, Hiwan Golf Club, and Glenmoor Country Club (I know I'm missing a ton more that should be on your radar).

Any specific reason? I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Ridge.

Checkout my reasoning [here](https://forums.golfwrx.com/discussion/1635360/pick-2-out-of-bear-dance-ridge-castle-pines-and-fossil-trace#latest "here"). Basically, they are more unique and fun. The Ridge is nice course but less character, more focus on views and tons of houses.

Absolutely. Think it depends on what you like in a golf course. The Ridge could probably be a considered more of a "championship" style test of golf. Maybe the best conditioned. But I enjoy courses with more character and intrigue so I would go with the others. They are all solid though, can't go wrong.

Any reviews of the Colorado Golf Club that i think is home the Colorado golf teams?

Just to keep you on your toes, the CU golf teams play at Colorado **National** Golf Club, which is located up near-ish Boulder. I've been told it's a good course, and it has recovered from a few years of poor conditions due to blight--which actually forced the golf teams to play at another facility.

 

Colorado Golf Club is located on the opposite side of the metro area from Boulder. It's an ultra-private golf club that has hosted a few major tournaments including the US Mid-Am in two weeks.

Yep my bad. Meant Colorado national golf club. Is it worth playing?

It's a good course. A few holes I thought were odd but a really good challenge if playing the right tees

If you have the dough, book a time at TPC Colorado. Best course in Northern CO.

Ended up playing TPC Colorado on day 1, Bear Dance and Arrowhead on day 2 and Colorado National on day 3. TPC was a great course, awesome shape. Really liked Bear Dance. Probably my favorite of the bunch. Greens were pretty beat up though. Arrowhead had some great views but once you get over some of the scenery it's behind TPC and Bear Dance in my book. Greens were pretty slow but had a decent bit of slope. Colorado National surprised us. Wasn't expecting much but it was in great shape and a fun final course. Everything is right in front of you so which was nice. Overall everywhere we played was in phenomenal shape and we had perfect weather.
