Give Willett's 4 year old rye a shot. It's one of my favorites. I like everything I've tried from the Willett distillery - Old Bardstown Estate, Noah's Mill, Rowan's Creek. They have have a cinnamon/red hot component that I really like. I haven't had the Pot Still yet. Old Scout is on the shelves here so I'll have to pick one up to try.

With the direction that distribution has gone I have really focused my attention to store picks. There can be a huge difference between a pick and regular bottles of the same juice sitting on the shelves. If stores near by have a barrel they picked they normally let people have a taste and I highly recommend it. It's a good way to get some great juice without having to camp out overnight or pay stupid secondary prices.

I lived in NOLA for years.....totally took for granted how easy it was to get good bourbon down there......wasn't until I moved to VA, where liquor sales are under the thumb of the ABC, that I truly began to appreciate NOLA distribution.

Probably the 15, maybe the 20. I’ve read the 23 year is not as good. But, honestly, if you can find some Weller 12 year, you will have damn near the same thing as the 15 year Pappy and a lot of extra cash in your pocket.

Not to quibble with you.....but the Weller 12 is closer to the 20 year pappy, simply due to the alcohol content (albeit not aged quite as long).....you're thinking of Weller Antique at 107 proof that is nearly a perfect substitute for the 15 year Pappy....but again being a bit short on aging. Having tasted all 3, I'd definitely go with the 20 and 15 over the 23.....the aging for 23 years is just a little much IMO.

I have Weller 12 and love it. So if I get opportunity to buy 15 or 20 as a very reasonable cost then I buy?

Yes you are correct. I love Weller 12 year. And for the price it’s an obscene bargain.

Few years ago visited my cousin and he had Pappy 12, 15, 20 and 23 so we had a pour of all of them ... Would rank them 20, 23, 12, 15 personally... The 20 was the best bourbon I have ever had... The 15 was very strong to me and wasn't as palatable as the others... Hope to secure a bottle of one of the 4 at an annual raffle to purchase... $10 a ticket and the proceeds go to a local community for funding... Raised $10,000 last 4 years
