Well came Qrashing down. 0-3. 6-3 overall. Seriously N.O.????? Looked good almost into the 4th quarter on other two. Pats up 30-0 and Bills 14-0. Then Pats fumble punt return the Jets recovered for td and backup QB throws a 69 yd. td pick. Bills QB throws up pick returned almost for td and that started an 17-0 run.

Bookends, the rise of intellectual curiousity and its demise

Philadelphia is a hot mess, and also represents the first game of the weekend. It was in the city of Brotherly Love I first read One Dimensional Man by Herbert Marcuse and I realized I simply wasn't all that smart nor were my thoughts all that deep. I realized I had been placated by the accoutrements of comfort and existed in a little bubble of guilt and the perpetuation of the American dream. The Iggles travel to Green Bay to get eviscerated by Aaron Rodgers, just as my comfortable life was eviscerated by the realization I was not only not unique, but incredibly bland. Green Bay and the points please.

A few hours outside of Buffalo I read Gogol's "The Overcoat" when I realized it was not only the American Dream I represented, but the struggle to make it and the roadblocks to achievement. Working for the man became a non-starter for me. I did own an overcoat I had purchased at a thrift shop and not unlike the hero of the story, it was in a general state of disrepair, but GD it, it was my coat purchased with my own money. I am still awaiting my comeuppance and my revenge on the world. Until then, I will have to live vicariously through Tom Brady and I will take the Pats and the points.

The final chapter of week 4 also represents the demise of intellectual curiousity. As a middle aged fat guy, read the simplistic page turners you can buy in the airport. A little sex, an out of this world plot filled with handgun silencers, duplicity, and rich people who rule the world through manipulation. My desire to improve as a person has left me. I would handcuff the starting QB to dinks and dunks after a turnover (or 5) and then drop my secondary 15 yards off the line of scrimmage so my opponents can gain chunks of yards from me. I will maintain that while I explain I didn't give up the big play because I kept my pathetic life "in front of me." It is with this mantra I will take the points and the Steelers, because even in my diminished mental state, there is always a weaker sister to beat up on.

You may not be excelling at your first go round in fantasy football, yet your wisdom and advice is still sought quite often i'm told. When high brow vacationers need some recommendations on the finest haute cuisine establishments in the Steel City, Bozeman, Billings, Boise, or Scranton, 'tis Sir Pete's knowledge they seek out. You too are keen on golf course recommendations throughout Northern Tier. Ice rink conditions, and ice shanty rental outfits too are your specialty. So king of the simulator the bookstore need not be of importance. lol

Did you get the CCM's ( or is it Bauer?) sharpened for the new season on the ice yet?

Ouch 1-2 this week - my beloved Lions screwed me twice, first by allowing the game winning drive then again by only losing by 4. Can't believe the Saints/Cowboys was a stinkfest of a game. One of the most burned corners in the league against a top 10 receiver and he shuts him down?

 

I can't complain too much though. Won $180 in poker this weekend, won my daily fantasy friend league, should win my regular fantasy matchup barring a miracle from Conner tonight, and my Spartans tried to blow it against Indiana but managed to squeak out a win.
