Ping's new G410 LST driver

GolfWRX_Spotted

Recommended Posts

I owned the 410+ and the 410 LST. I ended up selling the 410+ & kept the LST. Both were 9*. I used a few different shafts in each. Ultimately I'm gaming the LST with the stock evenflow black at 45.25" with the head set up animal style double 9 gram weights. Swingweight comes @ E0. Weights placed in the heel & toe ports. SUPER stable. While the 410+ had a softer feel at contact, the LST is just ridiculous. I've hit some ridiculous bombs with the LST. And it's completely workable in both directions. I can hit a cut & turn it over. Whatever is needed from this club, it's there.

On a second note. A buddy of mine bought the 410+ from me. He's hitting it so well. Plays a smooth draw. Hitting drives farther than he ever has. His comment was the club swings itself. He's playing the stock Tensei Orange @ 45.25" D6 at 52 yrs of age.

So I wanted to share my experiences today with feeding. I currently game a G 400 LST, 8.5 with a hzrdus yellow 75, 6.0 at 45.25.The short of it is I will be keeping the G 400. If you want more detail read on.

The G 400 LST had a spin right on average of 2400, regardless of what shaft I put into the G410 LST the lowest I could get the spin was 2800. I will say, I liked the looks and sound of g410 but based on dispersion and distance there was no advantage and actually for me a disadvantage. Are usually play a slight fade for my driver, I placed the weight in the neutral and the draw position and did not see any difference in my flight.

With all of that being said I do have a negative attack angle and also come over the top when I get lazy, meaning it’s more me than any driver I could every buy but I was able to see similar flight and shape with both drivers, just better with mine. A good $500 savings experiment and the fact that I got to experience 5 different shafts was cool. Numbers were on Trackman.

Got mine on Sunday with the CK Orange and it took about 200 balls to dial it in, but boy is this thing straight as an arrow and LONG. Probably 10 yards longer than my F9. What a driver!

Might give this a go over the winter in testing. Loving the 410 plus right now. Tweaking shafts right now but love everything about it.

Testing for a new driver for the first time since 2016. Coming from '16 M2 with AD-IZ.

Love the M2 but looking into the potential gains in ballspeed and stability as I like to strike driver in that slightly high-toe area which draws spin down.

So have shortlisted three newer heads which have the option of moving weight out to the toe in order to position the mass of the head more in line with strike location - G410 LST, Epic Flash Sub Zero and TS3.

While having a mostly Titleist bag the TS3 is my least preferred option based on previous experiences owning 910, 913, 915.

I'm not a massive fan of the Ping's sound, but the G410 LST is my top preference of the three as it looks great at address and from what I've heard is fast from the high-toe area - and while being low spin, is really stable.

On paper, the heavier Ping head could also be a really good way of me hanging on to the IZ as it's got a slightly higher balance point.

Does anyone have any feedback on how the G410 LST goes out of that slightly high-toe area or any comparisons for how it matched up to the Epic Flash SZ/TS3?

I thought the same and went into it with my personal preference before seeing the hard results. The TS3 beat 'em all, for me. Don't go into it with a favorite, just let the results call the winner.

What does going to flat settings do to face angle?

Much different shaft profile from driver to driver. Went from the AD IZ in a cobra F9 (high launch, different feeling kick) to the Tensei orange in the G410 LST. Plus learning where on the face I get the most distance/what type of trajectories I get. Maybe I'm totally overthinking it but I feel like it's finally "my driver" if that makes sense. Not just a club I hit at the range during the fitting.

Thanks Hammer22. I guess what I really wanted to ask was, what situations does it lean itself to in a fitting? Obviously if you're hands are lower than standard at impact you have more created more neutral or natural face and path, but I doubt that is for me.

I think maybe coz I was hitting big draws with EF SZ and hook is my miss, the Ping 410LST was anti-left to me. Maybe the fitter was thinking lowering the lie closes the face and would help tighten the fades (all else being equal)?

I would say that generally speaking the LST sits pretty open at address, not sure what you observed but a few degrees seems normal on mine. I personally like it so it's not a huge deal for me.

I still have yet to hit this, but have a 400 LST.

Did you find the 410 to be _**more**_ fade biased?

That gives me pause. I found my G400 LST to be one of the most fade biased drivers I've ever had. I like my G400 head for sure, but it was immediately noticeable compared to M5, Epic Flash, etc.

Interesting.... the M5 is one of the most fade biased drivers (in neutral setting) that you can buy.
