To me the most forgiving MP heads are these and it seems like that was Mizuno’s aim — cavity backs, not quite as small heel to toe as some other MP heads but only a touch larger, launch help and some with the tungsten co-forging that is still evident in the new MP20 MMC. I have found the MP 60 series to be harder for me to hit, and I have tried. The MP64 and I just didn’t mesh.

> 2. MP59 — Co-forged cavity back that I gamed and loved. A close second edged out by the 53 long irons being easier to launch. I gave my set to my nephew. He is still playing the 59’s and is quite good with them. He even hammers the 4 iron. Really, they seem similar in blade length to an S55. Not intimidating.

> 3. MP54 — The easiest to launch. Some say they fly shorter than others. They have a low COG so probably do launch higher than their brethren. Not really a dealbreaker when all you’d need to adjust is strengthen the lofts a degree and get the right shaft and you’re good to go. Sharp. I really like the look of it.

Thanks for that info.

I appreciate you taking the time to write that out.

I see a lot of Mp57-mp58s out there in great shape.

They are a cheap price, with little wear.

Are they ok, or so hard to hit they don't get played enough?

Have never hit the MP57 but based on vertical and rearward COG they should be pretty good easy to elevate. The thing you may want to look at is blade length and what you are comfortable with. The 57 is a straight up CB head with a ‘cut muscle’ rather than tungsten co-forging to move weight to the perimeter. I find all the MP 50 series to be the easiest of the MP line but they are different and it shows up when you hit them. The MP57 is a lot different from the 58 and 59. They’re all in the category of compact players clubs that offer some launch help and forgiveness.
