Ping putters - Sept 2019

Recommended Posts

Why does Ping insist on an Anser and not Anser F model. They would sell a ton more if the Anser wasn't so block shaped.

I just don’t understand why they have the Vault line instead of selling these retail. The Vaults don’t seem to be flying out of stores and you’d think the pros very often wanting milled, grooveless, insertless putters would be something the marketing folks could latch onto to drive sales.

They won’t do the PLD and I’m not even sure if they will do the fully milled 303 any longer.

I like the sight line on the top rail, not on the flange like Ping tends to do. if they would just do that Anser style with a top line, or leave it blank.....

Until then I'm sticking with the odyssey.

I just don't get it, with the custom putter market booming it seems like a no-brainer to open up the PLD shop to the public. Could charge $500-600 no problem. Maybe they don't have the staff or the logistics or something.

Very rarely would you ever see anything “Tour Only” from Ping until these PLD putters. With exception to the PLD 1,2, and 3 putters that were available.

Maybe they’re hyping/viral marketing these to then launch soon e.g. at and/or online at/during PGA Show.

Get a no-sight line Anser (e.g. Ping Anser Milled 0) and have Ping mill and paint fill a top sight line for $35 or so (forget the exact cost, but it’s relatively inexpensive).

Not true at all. Fact is very few people would spend that kind of money on a putter. Guys scoff at 300 for Cameron’s. You forget Golfwrx is such a tiny demographic it doesn’t make a blip in retail sales. It’s not financially viable to run the PLD market other than the limited putters they currently release

No I understand it's a tiny demographic. I just don't quite see how it's not financially possible when dozens of other putter makers are doing it. Just have 3-4 headshape options, finish option, alignment option. Keep it simple. They already have the shop setup, I doubt offering some to the public for $600 each is going to lose money.

At this point in time eBay or BST. They pop up new on eBay from time to time for $120-$150. Used on eBay is easy to find.

You could buy a nice condition used one, send to Ping for starshot finish, top sight line mill/paint fill, re-shaft, re-loft, re-lie, and re-grip and basically have a brand new version exactly as you seek. If you don't like the stock head weight, you could even have Ping add tungsten plugs to achieve a higher head weight.
