The ideal senior bag is the one attached to the golf cart waiting on deck to tee off.

Dreams of the low round dancing in your head.

Bag is set for next season except 8/9 iron cobra irons which will be cycled out for something with heavier shaft. Maybe replace rogue 11 wood with epic flash 11 wood. Done looking for holy grail bag at my age.

Fairways! Fairways! Fairways! 71 here, swing speed 85-90, current index 7.9. Always hit from the whites, always walk & push except when prohibited. All flexes are A except 56 & 60 wedges, which are stiff. Loft is my friend: my GBB Epic is 13.5 adjusted to 14.5, Epic 5 wood is 18 cranked to 19. I carry 3 hybrids: 19 (Cobra F8) , 23 & 26 (2007 Cobra Bafflers). Longest iron is 6, PW is 43, GW is 48 (all Titleist 718 AP1s).

I am still struggling with the irons. Everything else works great, except mishitting the 5 wood now and then. I am down to a 6 hybrid, and that is an amazing club. The best clubs in my bag are the 6 hybrid, 7 wood, driver, putter, and the Glide 50* wedge.

Bag is in overhaul mode

Age 68, left shoulder repaired, been tinkering this set together for a couple of years. Since I commute so much between OH and FL, I actually put together two (almost) identical sets so I don't have to lug them back and forth. Very forgiving throughout the set IMHO.

Don't know if there's a "perfect" bag at any age. More of an evolving bag. And the evolution seems to be occurring more quickly than years prior for this 68 year old. WTS, the state of the implements in use currently. Subject to change based on whim and fancy. And a significant observable improvement.

Driver: Ping 10.5* G400 Max with stock Alta 55g regular. A really good "old man's" D.

Fairways: V-Steel 18* 5 wood, 21* 7 wood and 24* 9 wood. Shafted with Grafalloy ProLaunch Platinum regular (5,7) and GD YS-6+ regular (9).

Hybrids: None. Do not coexist with them all that well.

Irons: Maltby TS-1 (5 - GW) with Grafalloy PL Red Axis regular shafts. Working off a 45* PW. Questioning my decision to go with LW graphite vs. LW steel. Such as Nippon 950's. A tempo thing. Periodic case of the lefts. No afflictions that were necessitating graphite for the build. May be reevaluated this winter.

SW: Currently an older SE 675TM (56/12) with Rifle Spinner shaft. Because I'm liking a wide® flange for the moment. Cleveland RTX-3 (56/ 11) in reserve. Needs to be reshafted with a lighter weight shaft. Seems ponderous with the stock TTDG "wedge" shaft for non-sand shots.

Putter: Ping Sigma G Tyne H at 35". A Ping BeCu Anser 2 sees occasional rotation depending on how I'm putting. No such thing as a senior putter.

Balls: Snell MTB, Wilson FG Tour. Both feel just about right. Not to hard, not to soft. Equal in performance. For me.

Not counting the various classic irons (Hogans primarily) and persimmons I enjoy dabbling with. Especially during the fall. Because I'm not yet old enough to stop trying. Just for the fun of it.

While not a senior yet (43), I’m not a big hitter. Cap fluxes between 8.5-11.5 so I can get around decently. I have been able to hit the ball longer this season than ever before thanks in part to Superspeed Golf and staying limber with stretches from Joey D Golf.

Currently I bag (yardages as measured by Game Golf):

Epic Flash 12* set to +1 - Avg 225; Typical drive 239

Tour Edge Exotics Xrail 3h 20* - 190

Tour Edge Exotics Xrail 4h 23* - 180

Cleveland 588 Altitude irons:

7i – 145

8i- 135

9i- 125

PW- 115

Cleveland CBX 50* - 105

Cleveland CBX 56* - 90

Cleveland CBX 60* - 80

Callaway Sure Out 64* - 70

Ping Sigma 2 Tyne H Putter

All Regular flexes other than the Wedges which had Wedge flex shafts.

I also have a set of G700 6-UW irons that I game from time to time but the Altitude irons seem to perform better right now so I went back to them.

62 in a month. Irons are a bit of a custom job, but they work, love my Ping Glide wedges. I would like to get my hands on a Ping Distanza shaft for my GMax, not sure if R or Sr flex to give it a try. I had a bag gap fitting last June and I am still in the R flex swing speed category. I haven't carried a 3W for years and have recently gone to a 3 hybrid because my 5 wood has become uncooperative off the turf. I equate the consistency from the hybrid from the shorter shaft.

Turning 60 later this year, hcp 7,5- 10. My bag (see sign) is set from 5-P, and wedges + driver. For several years I have spent a fortune on filling the gap between D and 5-iron: Callaway Epic 3W, 5W, HW...Callaway XR 4W + 7W XR 3 hybrid BB 4hybrid... Ping g400 3W sft, 5W, 5W sft, 7W, 400 hybrid 4+5...Ping 410 Hybrid 4+5....Titleist 816 hybrid 21, 23, 25....Srixon 355 5W, and several shafts - heavy, light, long, short.

For the time being, the gapping is filled by: TM m6 3 wood........Mizuno CLK 19*........ Mizuno CLK 22*/ Callaway x2hot 7 wood/ Srixon Z85 23* iron. I really like the adjustability of these CLK. Bought a used Callaway x2hot 9 wood just for fun. It is really a fun and easy club to use....high and reliable, but one dimensional (high- hopeless in headwind). The Srixon iron will probably not earn its place in the bag. In simulator- testing indoors the CLK`s almost flied to long. Perhaps the final set-up will be: D- CLK 3 set to 17*-19*, CLK 4 set to 20-22, and the 9 wood, and ditch the 3W?

Now only awaits spring, to hopefully settle for the finally set-up.

Any views or inputs?

My bag setup has changed a lot since I first started playing but it looks quite a bit like it did at the beginning (see sig).  The older stuff still works for me, so I'll stick with it until it doesn't make any sense anymore...

I used to caddy for my pro a bit when I was younger. He played in like 6-7 majors, won a state open, etc. He was about 50 at the time, carried driver about 235-240. Used a regular flex Driver, 3-5-7w, 22* & 26* hybrids, SGI irons w/ senior flex steel. This guy made golf look unimaginably simple.

No ego in that setup, just cashed a lot of checks.

North of 55, bag setup really isn't all that much different than when I was 40 honestly. I've had enough fittings to know I'm getting what works, so not spitballing it.

Main differences - played all sorts of AP2s now settled in on new to me Callaway Legacy Blacks circa 2011 or so that I bought off of eBay 3 1/2 years ago. Had lighter weight Recoil graphite shafts put in irons and had lofts, lies and lengths dialed in. But still "stiff" whatever that means, and KBS Tour 90 stiffs (steel) in the wedges. No issues ever hitting the ball high, as I've gotten older - always have. Maybe tech and lighter shafts and balls have me not losing distance much compared to many years ago, but not magically gaining any, lol.

Woods are still graphite shafts and whatever "stiff" means in those, but again a lot lighter shafts being the difference.

Did drop the 3 iron years ago and finally 4 iron when I got the "Stensons" (although the set came with one and it is sweet). I've carried 4h and will also be going to 5h this season. So, maybe there is more of a difference than I thought. ;-)

I assume I'll have a successful elbow surgery in about 5 weeks and I'll be revisiting what shafts are best for me this summer. Stuff that hurts is the thing I notice most about being a "senior".

73 yr old here and the one club that helps me keep up is my 48" Ping 12 deg driver Reg Prolaunch Platinum shaft. - always straight down the middle.

then have a Ping Fairways 3 and 7 and a Callaway 11 Wood. (money club)

PW thru 7 Iron are MP-20 MB with Recoil reg shafts and a 6 and 5 Mizuno Fli Hi Irons with lighter shafts 65 gr Recoil

Carry a Cobra Baffler 32 deg which is quite the trouble and or fairway bunker club when drastic measures are needed.

Sometimes depending on course the 5 Iron is replaced with a Baffler 26 deg.

This is what I found that fits me but still a work in progress for irons and putter in 2020:

Driver - TaylorMade M6D - Never got along with the Ping G400

FW - 5,7 TaylorMade M6D, just ordered a Max 7 wood to replace one of my hybrids

Hybrid - Still using my Mizuno JPX 900 25*

Irons - Currently, PXG 0311 XF and evaluating 790 2019 + Mizuno HMB. I think I’ll end up with MP20 HMB 5-P and occasional use of MP20 for 8,9,P. I like the flight and consistency of the HMB better

G, S, L - Mizuno 50*, 54*, 58*

Not sure yet on my 2020 putter

I will be 73 in a week or two and that's senior. Driver to be replaced soon.

10.5 Callaway Rogue R & Senior shafts, Rouge 3 and 5 wood R, Rogue X 4 Hybrid Senior, 5-GW Titleist 716, AP2s R shafts, Vokey 54*, Callaway 60*, either Swag Suave One or back-up Byron Morgan 615 both at 33".

( I hit the regular shafted Rogue driver farther that with the senior shaft. Switching does not seem to make a lot of difference.)

I'm 67 and have been fitted for everything in my bag that's in my sig except my hybrids. I get along better with stiff shafts in everything which kind of baffles me because I certainly am not a long hitter in any sense of the imagination. I just put way too much spin on the ball with my crappy transition so stiff shafts help with that.
