It's not the equipment, it's the swing, stupid.

Yep. Equipment can help a little. But, I agree for the most part. My only exception is with my driver. Got the G400Max about a year ago. When it cracked a while back and I sent it back I pulled my old RBZ driver out until the replacement came back. Realized the Max worked very well for me compared to past drivers. Just a well-engineered product. I do also think that the ball is probably overrated for impact on our games unless we're down in the low single-digits.

Lol. I don't think he "made" you look like hacks.

It's mostly the swing.

Equipment can give confidence.

If you think you hit that new driver better, and now your score has dropped 3 strokes per round, bravo.

I've seen people playing Walmart Topflites clubs sets. They started with that, and 3 years later they don't think they are good enough for a Pro-line set.

One day they hit their buddy's_________ brand 7 iron, and it's a new game.

Like the OP stated ( I guess), so many try to BUY their game.

If they slice, they start looking for the world's most anti-slice driver.

Need to fix the root of the problem.

I think there are two kind of golfers.

One kind is trying to buy a better game through being the latest clubs on the market and not really getting the results they imagined.

The other kind are golfers that don't care about the latest clubs or can't afford them. Thats where I feel I fit in.

I hit my starter set driver further and straighter than they hit their TS3 or F9 or M5. They never seem to understand why I hit my 10 yo Starter Set driver 220yds when their new one only goes 180 and are always amazed that, when I hit their big stick carry numbers above 260 show up.

I think the average hobby golfer does notnwant to admit its a swing problem and just blame the club.

Lots of fun in this one......

The swing it self is important period...lets not at all deny that.

The equipment SHOULD match the swing or the results. While I might contradict myself , super hilarious video of JS using a bunch of crazy clubs to hit unreal shots.

but assuming to play better consistent golf you still need to match the equipment to your SWING. While JS can use a kids club or a whippy club he has to manipulate his swing to make it playable. while many of us are just trying to create a repetitious swing to have consistent results.

reality says I can't just take a women's flex or A flex 55gram graphite in my irons and go shoot the same scores I am shooting now, my timing, tempo would be all over the creation. But once you zero in on a specification that fits your swing profile, the minute changes between club head tech or design will likely not be worth the chase.

NOW the whole point Gotta have darn good mechanics to put down good scores to begin with and then mate the specifications of equipment to that base swing. No point in using a sledge hammer to tighten a screw... But your base mechanics should have already said...why the heck do you have a sledge in the first place at least get a screwdriver....then figure out if its a flat head or a Philips head....

get the swing down, mate the equipment and move forward, trying to mate equipment to a broken swing is a long tedious task as you wont know what equipment to use that day until you hit your first ball off the tee, but by then, its too late.....

How about a different take that the quality of equipment is so close, that it is now on the swing aspect from here on out. My iron game changed dramatically for the better with a swing change! Same irons that I was fitted to 3 years ago, and with an adjustment it was amazing. So I am with the OP, the swing can always be improved, and the equipment can bring some false hope at times.
