All of my iron sets are JDM

Recommended Posts

So I’ve been on an iron flipping binge of late. Since Jan I’ve had multiple sets

Legacy Black,Epon 503,G700, cb501/mb001,

Miura Pp9003, Iblade, i500, Bridgestone j40 dpc, Bridgestone CBxp (I think that’s what they are called) Pxg 0311, and new Level 1031 to name a few. As of today I officially have 2 sets of irons

Miura CB2008 5-P with catalyst 100 and PP9003 4-G with steelfiber i95. I guess the moral of the story is that I feel like I’m getting the best feel and most consistent strikes from the Miura clubs. The 9003 are certainly marginally shorter than the pxg or other hollow body irons but dang they feel great. I’ve just decided that I’m going to stick with these two sets for the end of the season.

I’m sure none of you believe this given the amount of irons that I’ve gone through but I think this could end up being the right thing for my game.

Everyone loves to hear golf gear stories so there’s mine.

Hit em straight.

The blacks don’t feel as soft to me as the Miuras or Epons do but they feel good enough and the performance is great. Pretty forgiving for a compact low offset head.

I haven't hit a JDM iron that I've disliked. I like to keep a few of my favorite sets in rotation most of the time to keep things fun. Even though the sets are all of the highest quality and feel, every time I put the Miuras back in the bag, they're just better. Subjective, yeah, but I bet most people would agree with me. I would prefer to come across some obscure company that forges irons and be able to say they're the best, but I can't deny the Miuras, even if they've earned the badge in most regular people's minds as overpriced Japanese clubs for rich dudes. A company can only take themselves so far with bull s*** and hype before people catch on. Miura is where they are because they make, arguably, the best feeling irons. They didn't even have to spend millions on marketing themselves.

That is a good club. I like the 200 even more. I think both feel better than most heads with steel faces welded to a forged body, and there are a lot of clubs in that category.

As to the original post, I did like the Passing Points but the head seems a little long to me. I notice blade length more than anything. My fave Miura is the CB57. Pretty playable. But I am about to try the Epon 300 series. Also an elite forging with a bit more forgiveness.

I have Epon 703/303 as well and PXG 0211 and I will tell you that the 0211 feel almost as good as any forgings.

I hit the Bridgestone J15 MBs for the first time yesterday, and I must confess, they felt as good as the Miura BBs. Sounds strange, but there it is.

I recently picked up a set of Yonex MBs, and am getting them shafted with Shimadas or Oban CT115s. Have very expectations. Will report once I give them a whirl.

My first JDM set was Bridgestone j015 cb that I had last year. Wish I would have kept them. I now have the tour b cb, which are not JDM, but incredible quality irons. They don't get a whole lot of love in here, but they feel very soft and solid. Looks like a continuation of Tour Stage 201, which some say are one of the best cavity irons Tour Stage ever put out. Subjective I know.

Thinking of going j15 mb or tour b x blade next set. Or possibly going back to TS for an older set. Really wanting a set of A Grind AR-1 as well. Those looks beautiful! Man this rabbit hole gets deep...haha

checked out the latest lines from a few of the bigger co recently..hmm the bridgestones feel traffic but look terrible on the back.

the Yamaha are just putrid.

prgr are unfortunately going the same way as Yamaha by the looks of it.

onoff have some nice stuff.

honma im not sure about.. new MB are good looking and "ok "feel

don't even both with miura any more , what the fk has happened to them?!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!

the smalle rbespoke maklers have a lot more interesting ranges than the OEMS I find and why is probablbe my bags are full of random one off designgs rather than pop outs for ever harry dick and tom .

seems all the OEMS are going more soft and easy and ugly . disappointing.

IMO if u look back u will find much more interesting stff than new

but i get why everyone wants the lastest show off clubs........kinda.

owari !

I am down to two JDM sets, 2 totally different clubs. Miura CB 57 and Honma TW 727P. Can't decide which one to game right now but I intend to keep both. If forced to only have 1 set, it will be the Miuras.
