Hoboken/Jersey City/Hudson County Golfers

Hey all,

I'm looking to get some consistent playing partners for weekend rounds. I live in Hoboken and have a car. Thirty year old professional who works in the city. Looking to play up to an hour away. If you're also in the area, and looking for people to partner up with, please feel free to message me directly or post here. I would suggest grabbing a beer first so the drive is less awkward especially if carpooling.

Live in the Financial District, but always up for a quality round (= no Brooklyn 5 hours rounds)

Skyway is nice, especially for a 9 hole course but it's gotten a little pricey ($50 for 9 with a cart), so I've also played Silver Lake in Staten Island. Anyone play Weequahic in Newark? Also would like to play Galloping Hill sometime soon.

Galloping used to be my go-to. Once they finished the renovations though i feel like they've been getting more play...tee times are harder to come by if you don't have a county card and my experience is weekend rounds will take 5 hours, but i haven't played there in over a year so maybe I'm wrong.

There are some cool holes, some tricked up ones though too... Good luck with pace of play if you do go out there, let us know what kind of condition it's in.

Played Galloping Hill Friday. Had a 330 tee time and I thought it was gonna be packed with the early office exit crowd since it was so nice out. Showed up at 250 and was able to move up to 3, course wasn't too crowded and the condition were pretty good -- bunkers could've been given some love and the greens (especially the par 3's) had their share of unrepaired divots

Hey guys,

Wanted to pass on a pretty good experience at New York Country Club. Course has a lot of interesting features and only a few holes felt the same. Wasn't crazy about the 9th (tee shot straight up hill to a landing area then blind shot even further uphill to a two tiered green -- seemed like they were trying to do too much). Anyway, great conditions and probably the best twilight I've come across at $45 with a cart which is a steep discount of the $120 morning rounds. Course was in great shape and about 1 hour from Hoboken. Let me know if anyone wants to get a twilight round in up that way.

I created a facebook group = Hudson River Golf Club

Purpose of it is to have golfers set up tee times from Hoboken/Jerseycity/Weehawken areas from different areas and all uber together back and forth.

For example: I live in Hoboken, own a 14 day resident card to Gallopping Hill. Usually get 8amTee times on weekends. I will book a 4 some, and whoeever wants to come, we can all share an uber back and forth if we are all in the same area.

Works even better if someone has a car and drive. And works even better if we actually want to play really nice courses out west like Ballyowen or Pound Ridge or Neshanic.

Also thinking of adding a selling/buying thread in there.

Played GH last month at Noon on a Saturday. About 4.5 hours for 18.

Not sure what's more impressive - the pace of play or getting out at noon on a Saturday. Sounds like a good day, what kind of shape was it in?
