First round with tommy armour 986 tours!

Recommended Posts

Played a quick 9 after work today heat index of nearly 100 in east TN in October ?. Break down of how it went. Shot -1 one of my best days this year. Hit all 6 fairways and every green on the par 3s. And 7 G.i.r total. Come within a half foot of a ace from 165 with 7 iron. These irons are so enjoyable to hit and really reward a good strike. I found that I can hit a nice little 5-10 yard fade with the long irons and hit a par 5 in 2 from 230 out with 4 iron which is great for me. And when you middle these irons you can't even feel the ball hardly coming off the face. I'll be keeping them in the bag for time being.g9d4ztm0d8xn.jpg

It wasn't all cary. Hasn't rained in 4 months so corse is really baked out 210 in normal conditions is about all I can get out of a 4 iron. I hit a 5 iron off the first tee tight par 4 and it rolled out to nearly 240 ? but I'll take it.

According to the Maltby Club I'D Guide, the 986 Tours were from 86-95. The first model year had PGA stamped in the sole, as the company had not changed its name to Tommy Armour Golf yet. I think it was 87 and forward that the PGA stamping disappeared.

You have seen the light in both blade and classic clubs!!! So you guys are really catching it in East Tenn. heat wise too. Here and in NC we set all kinds of high heat records last week. Was talking to a good friend of mine from Knoxville last week and he said it was the hottest he had seen it this time of year in his life. He is a native Knoxville guy and a BIG BIG Orange T fan too. Said it was about too hot to go to the Big T game and to his son's high school games

Yeah hot is a understatement lol. Was hotter here then it was in death valley 3 days in a row last week over 95. I live 20 minuets outside Knoxville myself. Temps are suppose to get back to normal this week in the mid 70's so going hit the course as much as I can.
