Na with the most feet made in putts for the week in a long time. Maybe longest in SG era. Also first in a long time to win a tournament with negative strokes gained tee to green.

He was negative strokes gained Tee to Green, which I think is the first time that's happened for a winner in the history of tracking that stat. He broke the PGA Tour record for total length of putts made, which is insane to think he just made it in for a playoff. Obviously really impressive when he doesn't have his swing he still figured out how to win, but it required the best performance ever with the putter to make it happen.

Lateral hazard. Did he drop to the right of the water in line with the pin?

Yea, he's also shooting in the 60s on tour courses.

I agree with your point (and I think you agree with mine), just makes you think how sometimes it can get done without your best.

Did he do something else to make you think it was a questionable drop?

Yes, it was a bad drop. Watched the replay. The ball crossed further back (where the red line curved back toward the lake due to a swale) and the correct drop location would have been much worse. Not even on the upslope for one thing.

No fault of Cantlays. Can't see exactly where it crossed from 190 yds away. Apparently rules officiall had something more important to do than properly officiate a playoff. Nice hat though. Where is John Paramour when you need him ? That guy would have got it right.

Karma came calling on 72nd hole. He hit a perfect putt which didn't continue to break into the hole because of poor greenkeeping Need to step down hard on the cupsetter so the attached plate flattens the turf which is lifted slightly from pulling out the plug of turf and soil with the cup cutter. Mini-volcano effect kept Cantlay's winning putt out.

Kevin is an amazing putter. He set a record for most feet of putts holed. Part of this is local knowledge on the tricky reads. He likley also set a record for most spike marks, ball marks and other imperfections tamped down in a tournament. Greens were fairly pure but the new rules of golf allow indiscriminate tamping. So that "record" has an asterisk.

Phil looked pretty antsy waiting and watching Na grinding on the greens when Kevin was in the zone on friday. We followed their group and got our money's worth. Phil hit some unbelievable shots that afternoon to stay in contention.

Na would flat wear you out in match play. But would rather see Tony Finau play in Melbourne.

The drop was in regulation, not during the playoff

so, you're saying you could see the ground beside the cup, and it was definitely higher than the cup, due to the cup setter's technique ... and THAT is why cantlay lost ...
