Correct, best greens in the entire state East of the Cascades @ BGC -- so pure! Hole 17 is awesome from the tips. The whole layout is sweet though and it moved into my Top 5 Oregon Favorites after playing it for the first time last year.

I moved to Redmond about 1.5 years ago from Willamette Valley area. I know the guys at PARx and have played a lot of rounds with "Chappy" so I think I've heard your name when talking club tech junkie stuff.

Hi guys, going to bandon in April and planning to play Pronghorn on the last day before heading up,, are there any better choices to play on the way up keeping course conditions in mind in April?

and do you guys have any bucket list type courses we should play on the way down from Seattle? played nearly all courses in WA so maybe something cool in portland. I've played pumpkin, langdon and reserve. pumpkin is a swamp this time of year.

No 'bucket-list' courses, and you've already hit the three best public courses in the PDX area.  Langdon is at least right off I-5 and is arguably the best draining course in the area and about halfway between Seattle and Bandon.  You might want to stop and play Florence Links, but other than that, I'd say just spend more time in Bandon.

You are aware that Pronghorn is quite a diversion from heading back to Seattle, right?  Easily a 5 hour trip from Bandon to Bend, and you may find some lingering snow going over the mountains, whichever route you take.

had no idea, but thank you for the heads up spud

...with that being said, if Pronghorn is #1 on the bucket list (outside of Bandon), then you may as well come to Central Oregon. A trip during April makes it a no brainer IMO -- even the "best draining" courses in the valley are still soggy, especially after the great icepocolips and pineapple express that just pelted the area. Over here on the eastside of the Cascades things are much drier and courses will be playing a lot better by April -- the sun is just starting to warmup the area with our first week of 60+ degree weather. So if you're aren't sick of links style play by the time you make it to Pronghorn, then I would suggest Tetherow Golf Club. If you're sick of links style, then maybe a non-resort course here like Juniper GC or Widgi Creek GC... or even down in La Pine on your up/down Hwy 97 at Quail Run GC

I'd love to but pretty sure can't persuade the group to cancel Bandon lol, you guys have some beautiful courses in central oregon

...oh, I meant in addition to if you were already going to make the small detour to play Pronghorn (one of my all-time favorite courses in the US) then coming here for two rounds as opposed to 1 here and 1 in the valley.

One other option could be Tokatee. Not a “must play” but a really fun relaxing round. It’s about an hour off of I-5 in the opposite direction of Bandon but easy to get back on your way after the round. Basically head East instead of west in Eugene. From there you could stay there or head back and stay in Eugene or Florence and make the drive down the next morning.

It’s just a really fun relaxed round in a great setting.

...yeah I had thought about Tokatee GC as well, but since it's on the rainy side of the mountain range I figured April would be a bit soggy still. Heck, they don't even have their phone lines working yet since the fires last September. Beautiful there in the summer though for sure!

@Titleist_242 if you do end up out at Pronghorn another phenomenal resort course would be Brasada Canyons -- I think only caveat there is the tee times are reserved for members or resort guests only.

Any recommendations between Lost Tracks, Juniper, or Quail Run, mid March?  I'm passing through the Bend area on my way to Bandon, and looking for a travel day round.  I played Juniper last September and really liked it, other than getting a horrible smoky windstorm for the last 4 or so holes.  Never played the others.  Just looking for an affordable round passing through.
