Club Fitter to Grind Down .370 to .355 in Western Area of Country

Don't want to bore out the hosel's in case I don't like the shafts. Every Iron and shaft set I own is .355. For me, I would be ruining a set of (expensive) heads boring them out if I don't end up loving the shafts. Would rather ruin the shafts.

 

Any club fitters out there preferably in the Western States? Would send you shafts un gripped, already to be trimmed down, grips and heads all ready to be assembled

Are you talking about graphite or steel? Steel shafts should not be modified in that way and you're better off buying a single club and reaming the head to test.

You may want to list the heads and graphite shafts being used. Also your target for swing weight. Can you provide heads weights ?

I assume you are talking about graphite iron shafts? If steel u either need to ream( which i would never do) or just get .355 shafts.

Since im pretty sure u are talking about graphite.... Its extremely easy to do yourself. Just take a utillity knife and scrape a little bit off. Keep it uniform. You will be shocked at how little you will have to take off. Dry fit anf epoxy them in. So easy a caveman could do it!

Thanks guys. I have a lot experience with clubs in general but none when it comes to this particular instance.

 

I had considered getting out the 100 grit sandpaper and doing this myself but not quite sure how tight the tolerances needed to be. I think we'll start with the 4 iron and give it a whirl. Tape it off and see how it goes. 100 grit till it slides on and finish it off with 500?

Just use the rough grit. If you watched the video, keep test fitting as you go. Tolerances will be good and tight.

I agree with @Snowman9000. Just go slow and test fit often and you'll be able to achieve a good fit.

If I was doing this by hand, I think I would use coarse paper, say 60 grit.

I did it by hand with 100grit in about 5 minutes. 60 grit would have been more helpful to get through the paint layer.
