Oh wow! I've been playing KBS Tour V's in my irons and Apex UT. And I just put the Hybrid Proto in my Apex UT and love it. Can't wait to hear the story on these.

It’s actually the “Tour Driven” driver shaft. category is the flex rating. 4 is X and 5 is TX. Mid launch, mid/low spin.

I love KBS, but these look cheap. I'd prefer KBS stay in their lane( C and $ Taper are fantastic) . In a world where Low/Low sells, they release Mid/Mid and with a boring paint job to boot.

Aesthetics can be debated. Probably not a look for everybody but red/black very much consistent with other KBS products. And not everybody needs or wants low/low. Some do for sure. Some want to believe they do and are wrong though.

Look Cheap? How does graphics and paint relate to anything? Don't like the scheme? Cool everyone has different tastes. But to label em "Cheap" seems a stretch.

considering how little of the shaft is actually visible, I don't know how we can come to that conclusion. I mean the tensei shafts are plain black with a simple band towards the top. Is that cheap? to me, this looks like from we can see to be a black shaft, with a red band somewhere... Seems simple, but that does not mean cheap.

Art/design is subjective. Some will love it, some will hate it. At the end of the day, it's all about the performance and their graphite offerings to date have been great. Have to imagine they'll start with a mid/mid and then work around it. Just like they did with the KBS Tour steel shaft.

Could be wrong but I heard rumors these may be following a flex pattern similar to Accra TZ shafts. Wouldn’t be surprised to see extremely low torque. If they can do that while producing a smooth KBS feel.....oh boy.

Sounds like a good first release into this crazy competitive "category". Looking forward to hearing more about them, I have always loved their original KBS Tour line of iron shafts.

The low torque and worm burning flight may be fine for WRX bomb squad but the rest of us will hope for KBS's smooth feel and playability.

Back in the day everyone had a Diamana Blueboard glued in - mid/mid. That was the rage then and still is for those who love low lofted heads so you blend it with a mid/mid for piercing bombs. If it’s as smooth as the Iron shaft $ Taper or Tour Taper I am in and the colors will match the rest of my black and red bag. Nothing but smoothness from KBS - oh and the prototype graphite hybrid shaft that’s super smooth too. Offerings in TX now that’s even smoother.

Cool how they labeled the flex to a category hurricane - wondering if that relates to ball speed! ?

I think the categories will line up as follows. Pure speculation though,

 

1=R

2=R+

3=S

4=S+

5=X

 

Again I have no factual basis just speculation!

I still have the original BB in my driver and 3w (both PING G20) and it is smooth indeed. Had a fitting last week and can’t find a longer, better feeling combo. As far as looks go it’s fine. Whatever sends the ball the farthest down the fairway is the best looking IMO.

Disappointed KBS has no info on these at all when the front page article directs you to their site to begin with. Seems like something I'd like to try though KBS always puts out solid gear!
