Agreed! A small cobra logo would have looked sweet!

Too much offset for my taste but I appreciate the effort. Hopefully their player's cavities and blades carry some of the benefits of these irons though.

I had the i500 for about a year and I wasn’t feeling them. Generally not a fan of these new types of hollow players distance irons anymore. I think these look alright but the top line is too thick. I prefer the look of the new P790 more.

I like the mimimal 'clean' look. So are these like the Pings with the weight screw?

The top line is too thick, way too much off set for a players distance club, and the KING is too big. Should’ve gone with the cobra symbol. They don’t feel as good as the 790’s? That’s not good.

Other than that I really like them.

I'm confused by all the talk of "offset" on these irons.

If these are "players distance" irons, which seems to be the category for all the hollow irons, where exactly have Cobra "dropped the ball"?

I think Shields said out of the middle they feel better than the P790, but when missing the sweet spot P790 felt better. He was kinda rambling but pretty sure he eventually says the above.

I'm looking forward to trying these. They look good to my eye. I don't care about the "KING" being written on the back of the irons. Can't be seen at address & after a short time I won't even notice it anyway.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just hit a demo 7 iron for 30 minutes. I was a little bummed that the only one I could get my hands on was 2 degrees upright, and I generally play 1-2 degrees flat. Needless to say I was hitting the left off target with my normal draw. I am hoping that this explains the spin numbers because I could not get over 5000 with this. I know the loft is jacked, but I was expecting 5500-6500 out of the 7 iron and I was hitting 4000-4500.

They look great. For what it is, the topline is great. I didn't immediately notice the offset, but I don't normally play blades either. Very comfortable standing over it. Feels great. A quality hit feels like you are smashing a rubber ball with no cover. Cobra is sneaky good in the feel department with alot of their clubs. I didnt quite agree with the amt white s300 that was in. This isn't the standard shaft for this club, but I was swinging it 85-88mph, where I usually swing something I would game in the 88-90 range. Regardless, this club launches. High flight and long. Again the lofts are very strong, but it does fly. Routinely carrying 175.

I'll have to demo these a few times, with a head and shaft that better fit my specs. If I can get these on target with some better spin numbers (which I am sure would sacrifice some distance) these become very game-able.
