Keep it low off the tee into the wind, and getting near the green on your approach is the goal, not necessarily on the green. It puts a lot of pressure on your chipping and putting, but it's possible to score in sub-30 mph winds. I live in the Santa Ynez Valley in CA, and the wind almost always blows hard after noon. If you play enough in the wind, it just becomes another factor to consider, not a reason to panic. Skip the beers until the 19th hole.

Hit low hooks off the tee. Err towards missing greens so you are chipping into the wind.

Have a go to club that you can hit lower and easy with different length swings into a headwind whilst still flying it all the way. There’s nothing stopping you hitting a 7i from 60 yards if it means you avoid the wind hitting it too hard.

 

Ugly golf shots work really well in the wind. A lower teed driver with a 50% swing works really well into wind. It’ll fly low and run out miles.

 

Key thought is keep it in play and not to lose a ball. If you can achieve this you’ll be amazed at how well you still score. The next time you play in less wind you can adopt the same approach and reap the benefits.

 

Accept that the only way to get better as a golfer is to play in harsh weather or conditions. It makes you a far better golfer for the still, blue sky days!

First, there is no such thing as a B game.

 

Second, why would a golfer expect to score worse in different weather conditions (unless extreme) than any other time? You just have to adjust your targets and club selection. I played this morning in 40 degrees and an 18 mph wind. Shot a decent score (76). I'm not a great player, but I adjusted by taking two more clubs into every green and aiming according to the direction of the wind. Short game was basically the same because the ball didn't stay in the air long enough to be affected.
