"Freedom Golf Course" Mesa, Arizona

It looks like a very mediocre Par 3 course in West Mesa (offering disc golf, foot golf, and regular golf), but they offer "Pro V1" range balls. Shy of the high end private courses, I have never seen this on a driving range, let alone a multi-use Par 3 golf course. Might be worth it to check if out for the driving range. Have to give them credit for trying.

I’ve always thought about checking that place out, looks like it has potential to be a cool little spot to work on the wedge and iron game. Headed out of town this week but I will check it out when I get home

I played it once right after it opened. Shot even par, never returned... LOL. two bogies/two birdies. It has always been known as Fiesta Lakes, first I've heard of the name change.

 

A terrible excuse for a golf course. Wouldn't recommend it even if your car broke down next door and you had your clubs with you.

Oh, I have played it too. I didn't know it was Fiesta Lakes. I usually use it as the example of the bad/low end course when I say I've played every course in the metro area, i.e., "from both Whisper Rock courses to Fiesta Lakes..." :lol:

 

Yeah, it is terrible for a terrible golf course. The driving range wasn't even as good as a weedy lawn.

I believe this course is currently unplayable and is mostly used for disc golf right now. From what I've heard, the course is changing ownership and the new owners are trying to revive it. Hopefully by the end of the year it becomes more playable.

So this course is now called "Stripe Show Golf Club" (as of Jan. 2020). I admit it's not Augusta, hell it's honestly just a pitch-n-put. But to defend it..it's fun as long as you know what you are signing up for. I would say it's essentially a fairly narrow par 3 course with 2 short par 4s. There are lots of trees and shade and the hitting corridors are pretty tight which is interesting. Also for about 30-40 acres there are lots of elevation changes which is cool. I play here about 2-3 times a year, mostly with my 11 and 14 year old daughters. It's never busy or crowded and great for beginners or people who like to play barefoot (you could probably go shirtless). I played it last week as the COVID-19 situation was getting ramped up. If you want to go out and play 9 holes in an hour, listen to some tunes and not take it too seriously...it's fun. I am a member at Forest Highlands in Flagstaff and I love to play a good, well conditioned course. This course is neither of those but if you are in the area and you wanna hit some shots I think you should go for it. The guys in the shop are cool. Golf is awesome in all forms and facets to me. This is a grass roots place that I think we should support.
