Where on earth have I been?

 

Ok, so here goes.

 

Suffered an injury and game fell apart. Still came around then but not as often.

 

And then, about a year ago, I applied for a Fire Chief's position here in Florida. After a long and difficult process I was selected. The new position was beyond being a blessing for my wife and I. She was able to finally retire from retail and now works her dream job in an Elementary School. And I am finishing my career, ironically, right back where I started all those years ago. (Same community but different department)

 

We sold our old home in only 4 days for over asking. Found a new home in our new area, about 10 minutes from family, and have nicely settled in.

 

Sure I am doing about 60 hours a week. And now, instead of handling fire and trauma I am handling budgets and personnel issues. But I am loving every single moment of it. This is where I was meant to be. I am going to finish strong and leave my department better than I found it.

 

So what about my game?

 

Well, I have changed to a 10 finger grip and the pain has eased up. This past Saturday I was "on" for 16 of the 18 my buddy and I played and I see a light at the end of the tunnel. I have discovered more power with this new grip and the comfort that goes along with it. And my short game is dead on so....hopefully my handicap goes back down. It's double digits now and my lowest round since the ordeal started was an 85 that was founded on some lucky long putts.

 

I have missed this place. And now that I have been settled into my new position and am used to the new hours and stresses you will see more of me around here again. I love this place. I still love the game (but it does NOT love me back). And I love my new position in life.

 

To the Mods, thanks for letting me say hello to everyone again. If this is posted in the wrong place please forgive me. Don't say it, Dave - "Rookie mistake".

Was wondering if my kind was still gonna fit in around here. I see the same friends I had on here before (and have so much respect for) - like I said it's good to be back.

 

Am hoping someone might PM me with a quick list of who has gone MIA since I was last here. So many names pop into mind. Hoping many of the "old timers" are still making this place fun and funny.
