Srixon z585/785 iron advice

Looking for my first set of non hand me down clubs and decided on a set of Srixons. Still have a lot to learn and improve on but I average in the mid to upper 80’s and occasional 90’s with the proverbial disaster holes. Decided I will get the 4-6 irons in 585 and need advice if I should split the 7-PW in the 785 for when my game improves or should I just get a complete 4-PW in 585. (Extra forgiveness is always a bonus.) Also, plan to get the u85 3 iron for those tight fairway shots when I want to stay away from the driver.

Combo set is the way to go. The 5 series do tend to be "hot" especially out of flier lies. They have an undercut cavity that is `springy` for lack of a better word. You'll airmail a few greens and at your level you can definitely handle the 7 series.

What gallas2 said; I went with 6-PW in the 785 because of the distance gapping. I had my 585 5i bent 1 degree weaker to match the lofts.

I am sitting somewhere between a 16 and 18 handicap right now and I play the a combo set, the 4 to 7 is the 585 and 8 to PW is 785. They are not hard to hit at all and and the 785 are quite forgiving and feel awesome if my striking was a bit more consistent I'd go 785 from 6 or 7 down. I was originally going to go into all 585 but the spin on the 585 is a little low and I'd have trouble keeping the ball on the green at times so combo set we went.

 

The one thing is I'd hit them first, the v-sole is very helpful if you have a steep swing but if you're flatter it can actually be an issue. But overall great irons, these will keep me a Srixon fan for a while.

I agree on the combo set as long as you’ve hit both of them and are comfortable!
