Ventus in fairway wood

Has anyone tried the Ventus blue in a 3 wood? I really like it in my driver, but I wanted to know if the ball would get in the air quick enough with a 3 wood off the deck.

I have a ventus blue 7 stiff in my ts3 15 degree and absolutely love it and have zero issues hitting it off the deck

I play my ping g410 down at 13° and have a Ventus 7s tipped 1/2”. Zero problems getting it airborne...

If the shaft fits your swing, it should be fine. If you feel like you need more peak height/launch, you may need more loft. I switched to a 16* "3w" and love it.

I have it in a 5 wood and no issues in getting it airborne. Either off the tee or off the deck.

If you worry about getting it airborne you could also leave it untipped. I tried that experiment with a R15 5wood I turned down to 17* with a GD MJ 6X. The deal was too good to pass up on the shaft so I just didn't tip it (just did standard 3 wood tipping instead of 5) and the thing was one of the best fairways I ever used...had it for 3 seasons.

I have one in my Ping G410 set to 13* loft. It's a monster. Finally after 10 years I've found the ideal 3-wood.

After a second round of using the Ventus blue in my Cally Flash 5 wood, I pulled the trigger and ordered one for my 3 wood. This shaft just feels so good and even on bad hits I was not losing much distance and the ball wasn’t turning as much. One in particular I thought I would miss the fairway to the right but it was just on the right side of the fairway and I only lost maybe 5 yards. I was still in front of my friend and he hit his well and also with an3 wood.

I just got fit into a Ventus 7s in a Callaway Epic Flash sub zero 3 wood. The Ventus isn't a low launching shaft and the bend profile is a good match for a fairway wood. I was very impressed with how straight this shaft is, a real bonus for a 3 wood.

Did you try the Fuji 2.0 by chance when doing your Flash SZ fitting?

Ventus red is an excellent FW shaft. The difference in launch and spin between the red and blue is really minimal, about a degree of launch and 200 RPM of spin from the testing I've seen, so don't be scared about the red launching or spinning considerably more than the blue.

Without seeing you swing I would probably suggest an untipped 7X which is standard tipping for a 3 wood but you could also go with a 7S tipped a half inch depending upon how you load it up.

That is what I am using right now and it is a great 3w shaft. Really tight dispersion and the ball gets up quick, but doesn't spin like a top. Really like the feel as well, smoother than the HZRDUS Red it replaced.

Unfortunately I did not. We got such good results from the Ventus we didn't try much else.

Thanks guys. This was my initial thought that it would be pretty good. Have either of you hit the fuji pro 2.0 blue? Ordered some new pxg woods with the 2.0 blue in 6s but have been debating just pulling the trigger on the ventus reds. Probably would do 7s in those. Just no where to go try them and obviously they are very expensive so it would be a pricey experiment

I haven't had a chance to investigated Ventus but thinking about replacing the shaft in my TS2 16.5* wood. Currently using HZRDUS Red 75 gram 6.0. What's the weight and bend profile of your blue 7? I heard about Ventus Red but know nothing about it, either.

I really like Pro 2.0 Blue, great shaft. For me Ventus Red was better in all categories though. Tighter dispersion and more consistent, with more solid feel. Ventus feels overall more stiff but less vibration, especially on mishits.

Man you are gonna cost me some money lol. My only real decision now is if I want it in 6s or 7s. My goal is to hit it higher and with everyone saying how good the dispersion is, may be able to get away with 6s

have a ventus blue 7x (tipped like a 3 wood) in a 4 wood 16.5, great and easy to get up in the air.  It can push pretty close to my driver if I really get after it.  Always wanted to try a red...

I had a Red 7x in my 4 wood and didnt get along great with it. Launch was a bit to high and it seemed to accentuate the fade i normally play. But i have a 9x Red tipped 2 inches in my 7 wood and LOVE it. the shaft really turned that club into a weapon for me.
