Hey everyone just wanted to share a putter I recently bought and haven't seen anyone post about them before. I was looking for a custom putter and looked at everyone I could find from TLamb to Mannkrafted. I found Goodwood on Instagram and his prices are incredibly affordable for a custom piece. He worked with me on doing the hammered bit as thats what I was really after. The feel off the putter is incredible I

was really surprised vs the scotty cameron pro platinum mid slant id been using for the past 10 years almost. I went with the unmilled face and am loving it. Also went with the raw finish as I wanted to eventually get the rusted look. Let me know what you think of it! Thanks!

Hey man, kudos for going with a new builder. It's nice to have a personalized putter with your own personal touch. In this case, I think it looks a little bit rough around the edges. The toe and topline look a little sharp for me and the stamping is a bit...well not my style.

 

Regardless with a little patina I think it will look cool

 

Why go with an unfilled face?

Yea I wanted something that actually looked handcrafted and imperfect like the stamping I didn't want it to look like it had been made in a factory like scottys. The unmilled I just wanted to try and see if had some better feel since I can always get it milled if I didn't like it. So far I'm loving the feel off of it. It rolls a lot better than my scotty which really surprised me

Looks cool, I've been following him since the beginning, some of the usual suspects when it comes to models but his pricing is great and he's getting better as time goes on.

Just came by this topic on a whim and started following the guy on IG as a result. Turns out he's local, which is really cool. Also means I'm going to buy another putter I suppose.

Everyone has to have an allendale/newport/anser style in their lineup. But how many are dropping putters with bullet bottoms?

I got one just for that reason. David faded the face heel, dropped a dot on it, fabbed up a jig to stamp the sole... did everything I asked for. Just need to work on some painting techniques for bigger dots. :wink:

 

Great to work with. He is looking to put out gamers first, and keep it relatively simple stamping wise.

But yes, the feel is incredible. Super solid and soft.

Oh yeah, using carbon. :smiley: Although some folks are pressuring Dave to do stainless.

I ordered one as well. I missed the pre order but he messaged me and said a fella backed out so I got a blank slate one and had him do this. Still waiting on black shaft and grip to come in but so far I am happy with it and can't wait to roll it!!!

I recently bought a new putter from David. I went with the Anser 2 style in a gun blue finish. I considered some custom stamping, but at the end of the day I generally prefer a simple look. So I went with no custom stamping or paint fill. The owner is a younger guy and lives about 10 minutes from where I am, so I like the idea of supporting a local startup company rather than a more-established brand. He is eager to answer questions and will work with you to build what you want.

From a playability standpoint, I really like the look and weight of the putter. I used it a couple days ago for the first time and had my best putting day in a long time. I’m not sure whether it was purely the putter, but so far so good!

Very nice, how does it feel? Firm, medium, soft, clicky, dead?

He's posted reviews saying people are saying it's soft but never know. I assume for a carbon putter it's on the softer side.

I suppose it felt somewhat softer than my previous putter. Honestly I don’t know how to answer this because I wasn’t focused on it at the time. I just know that it feels really good in my hands, particularly the weight.

I have just ordered a long neck left handed G6 from David. I love the look of his work and he is super nice to deal with and quick to reply.

I have high hopes as I have always wanted a long neck custom putter. He only has them in Carbon Steel, for those of you who have had a carbon steel putter what apart from rusting are the main differences from normal stainless steel?

Definitely thinking of adding a putter from him either a very simple lefty G6 or his new Tracer which is a symmetrical wide body blade that can be done in several necks and neck locations. Just depends on the weight of the Tracer and if I get an NP2 from someone else.

I just received my custom long neck G7.  It's a Christmas gift from my kids that was wrapped up yesterday before I could even look at it.  I'm super pumped to open it Christmas morning like a kid!

This is my lefty long neck G6 being built by David. He really is great to deal with and I can’t recommend him highly enough. Reasonably priced and I think his putters look fantastic.... Will update when he has finished it......

Can't wait to see it when done, his head shape is nice and priced really well, also like that he charges a few bucks for finishes vs 100+ like some other guys.

 

Also maybe dumb question but you have a RH putter in your profile and a LH here. Do you putt both ways or just one and a fan of Goodwood in general?

The picture was a stock photo i got from Kari Lajosi's site when i had a putter made a couple of years ago. I do indeed putt left handed hence why my new one is left handed. I love David's work and his price point, some of the other putter makers are starting to charge silly money.....

Gotcha, hard to see the brand the profile pics are small.

 

But I do agree with you on putter prices, I'll always like custom or semi custom milled putters over OTR options, but some of these prices are insane and I generally have to pay 30-60% more for exchange rate, tax and potential duty charges being in Canada. So a putter from David or similar at say around $400 USD when all is said and done is better than $800-1000k. I'd love them both but I can drop money on a Goodwood quicker than a custom costing double unless I can pay bi-weekly until my putter is complete.

Well here is the finished putter. I am delighted with what David has produced... Anyone who is thinking of ordering a putter from him, do so....

You will not find anyone easier to deal with, quick replies and an absolute desire for you to end up with exactly the putter you wanted....

Now the wait as it makes its way to the UK....😃🏌️‍♂️⛳️

That's a sweet looking stick. I asked David the weight on that and he said 355g which isn't bad. I know if I order a Goodwood I'd definitely have to slap some lead tape on the sole for me.

So I got bored and laid out/priced my build for a lefty G6, not gonna pull the trigger just yet. Want to see if I can just get the head shipped to me as I have shafts and grips and would rip out what would come with it anyways. 

 

Will see if I get bored and/or have some spare cash and pull the trigger on it.

I'm sure David would ship you just the head I think it is a .370 tip shaft

I'll ask closer to when I'm ready to pull the trigger. I just went through his build page and didn't like the shafts he offered and I have a pile of grips I can use. Plus cheaper to ship a head vs a whole putter. 

 

But I'm going to keep looking at his page to see if a certain finish, milling, color combo catches my eye. I'm kinda on the fence for paint fill which is stopping me.
