These look good to me. Offset in the irons I’d be looking at (4, maybe 5) is similar to the Nike VPC, which I loved. Would like to eyeball it because sometimes offset blends in and sometimes it stands out. But offset in the .140 range for a 24 degree head is about where I usually want it.

Didn’t hit the new 790 but sitting them side by side, 2019 790 has a thinner looking top line and a bit shorter I think heel-toe. Overall the 790 looks more like a “players” club and the Cobra looks a little clunky but blade-shaped.

Just hit these in a sim. Feeling is nice, muted and soft. No click. Ball just compresses off the face and goes. Definitely doesn’t feel like a “distance” iron. It flies like one though. Even thin shots carried a long way.

Normal 7i is 165 carry with Srixon 765, Modus 120x.

Just hit Cobra with $-Taper S.

7i flying 185+ on average over 10 shots. Had one carry 200. Spin was low ~5k. Wanted to go very straight. It’s a 2 club jump for me. Not sure how gapping would look at bottom of bag. Would be afraid of distance control in scoring clubs. I imagine trying to hit a controlled 9 or PW and just flying the green by 30 yards. Plus the short irons definitely look clunky.

I’d probably have to look into getting Forged Tec long irons but not sure what you’d blend them into. King Forged Tour?

I've hit both extensively, each with the KBS Tour 80 shaft in regular flex. The TM looks a tad better at address but no big deal. Both were 7-irons. The Cobra flew a little higher with more spin (5600) for me. I'm 72 years old and was getting 145 carry and 153 total on average with the Cobra, about 5 yards longer than the P790. An excellent iron as dispersion was wonderful.

Cobra was 5 yds longer, flew higher and had more spin? That seems like a win in all 3 areas as you would gain more distance and should hold more greens.

So is the main difference between these and the P790's, aside from the size of the sweet spot, is that the P790's have that filled foam core in the hollow space and these don't?

Hit a demo 7 iron last night while helping a friend find a new driver.

For those saying this club feels subpar compared to the P790 or any other similar club need to go back and hit it. Probably one of the best feeling clubs I've hit in along time. I sorta abandoned my buddy and just hit this club for about 20 minutes, hitting bomb after bomb. Consistent distances, no weird outliers or hotspots that I noticed, soft, soft feeling face but not dull, not clicky AT ALL! (not even sure who would say these are clicky unless they were hitting solid plastic balls or something). In my opinion this is an awesome addition to this class of clubs. I've never gamed a KBS shaft, so maybe the $-Taper had something to do with it, but it flat out performs! The offset is fine and as pointed out above, completely in line with other clubs in this category, so not sure what all the hubub is about that. I didn't realize we had so many PGA pros on this forum who needed so little offset that these would be unappealing, but I sorta chuckle at that complaint... they're perfectly fine in that regard. They had me seriously thinking about grabbing my bag out of the car and trading my HMPs in for a set right then and there. Obviously I decided to wait and try to demo a whole set before making such a rash decision, and I was not even in the market for new irons... until now.

As far as the logo on the back, remember who we're talking about here. Cobra, they of the bright orange, green, blue and red drivers, and other loud offerings over the years. They are not afraid to be bold and a little over the top, but they also back it up with performance. Either way, I think they look great and would certainly game them in a heartbeat, maybe even partly because of the logo, not in spite of it. I'm not usually one to be all that concerned about graphics on the back/bottom of a club like some folks here are. If it looks good at address and performs I couldn't care less what it looks like on the other side. That just seems like a frivolous complaint and not a good reason to not game a certain club.

Curious on the forged tec vs the f9. I loved the feel, ease of launch, forgiveness & distance but not a fan of the super chunky look.

Curious as I've seen in person the forged tec and they definitely look good but aren't small and are a bit chunky and thick.

If they give f9 results and better looks they might be for me.

I think the new 790 does not feel nice, it feels harder than the original. (Rick Shiels had same opinion in his review and liked the 2017 feel more.)To me the Cobras and the Mizuno both feel better than the updated 790.

The Cobras are larger for sure and somewhat chunky, but it’s all by comparison in a store. I find when you play clubs on a course, if they perform well those observations fade quickly.

I agree with the poster who hopes they play similar to the Cobra black forged Tec. I have a set of the black forged Tec one length

sitting in my garage. Those heads are really easy to hit, nice ball flight. Their has been talk of offset, I normally hit a ball pretty

straight or with a little draw. The offset doesn’t seem to be much of a factor. I’m planning on finding a demo days and try them out.

I've done a little comparison in offset because I want less than my current gamers. I only play irons thru the 6i, so didn't look up anything beyond that. I found it odd how there isn't a lot of consistency between the offset "gapping" from club to club from the same OEM.

Based on this, I'm looking forward to when sub70 adds the 699 Pros to their demo program.

Apex CF16 (current gamers): AW - 2.79, PW - 3.04, 9i - 3.3, 8i - 3.55, 7i - 3.81, 6i - 4.06

Cobra Forged Tec Black: AW - 1.8, PW - 2, 9i - 2.3, 8i - 2.5, 7i - 3.1, 6i - 3.3

sub70 699 Pro (not yet released): AW - 0.75, PW - 1.25, 9i - 1.75, 8i - 2.25, 7i - 2.75, 6i - 3

Honma TW-X: AW - 2.4, PW - 2.4, 9i - 2.8, 8i - 2.8, 7i - 3.2, 6i - 3.2

PXG 211: AW - 1.14, PW - 1.27, 9i - 1.78, 8i - 2.41, 7i - 3.3, 6i - 4.1

2019 P790: AW - 1.6, PW - 1.8, 9i - 2.1, 8i - 2.4, 7i - 2.7, 6i - 2.9
