One day in Las Vegas

I am going to Las Vegas(on the strip) for 1 night 2 days. I need to play early in the morning and come back to spend rest of the day with my family. Where can I play to enjoy a quick morning round that's within 30minutes of driving time? Anyone recommend playing and Bali Hai? I have heard mixed reviews about them, and would like to know what other options I have. Thanks

The next closest public course to the strip after Bali Hai is Las Vegas National, probably followed by Wildhorse, Desert Pines, and Legacy. If time is truly the top consideration, personally I'd go for the course that could get me a tee time closest to being the first group out of the day.

How about Paiute or Cascata? They are about 30 minutes away and heard good reviews about them

Absolutely love Paiute I personally like the wolf course the best but they are all great. It can get super windy there so just be prepared for that possibility.

I do this every time I go to vegas. My order of courses in preference is below. (Keeping in mind some of these are really fun to play)

 

there are a few around 30-40 minutes away.

Bali hai has gotten better from what I have heard but you might be better off driving 30 minutes vs risking a 5 hour round at a busier course.

They all sound like good courses. Which course do you like the best at Paiute? I will check out other courses before I make reservation.

snow or wolf are the two best courses. I personally like the two above courses slightly better but it's up to you. When i played Reflection in april the course conditions were similar to augusta. Not a bad spot on the course.

Yeah, I'm going to try to book for Paiute the wolf course. It looks fun and only 30 minutes away from the hotel I'm staying. Hopefully I won't lose alot of balls. I was 5 handicap before but this year I've been struggling, shot a few 70s but also 90s this year.

man, most of these courses are not available for 8/28 teetime. They must be closed for some reason. I might have to go play at Coyote Springs. Has anyone played here before?

Most courses will have started or are starting overseed....that is why.

 

Coyote is a great course...so if that is your choice, you will be happy.

Overseeding begins at a few courses this weekend and will last through October.

 

Coyote Springs is an awesome track. Originally designed by Jack to be a PGA Tour stop before poop hit the fan. It's a tough course, but it's beautiful and a lot of fun!

Pauite is always in great shape. Wolf is their Signature and a beast, but Snow I think has the most character. Keep an eye on the radio towers in the distance. If you lose visibility of them, you will be pounded with rain soon. Reflection Bay is a great track too.

I like Cascata but pretty expensive.

i was there for a conf last year and got in a day early so i could play a few rounds of golf.

.

i did bears best in the late afternoon on a golfnow hot deal and played as a single and finished pretty quickly. it was a fun track and some decent views of the city. great way to play some of jack's signature holes in one golf course.

 

i played bali hai the next morning at like 6am and then played paiute wolf at like 11am, then made it back in time for conference registration at 4pm the same day.

 

bali hai wasnt too bad for a course on the strip. there were planes taking off all morning and eventually you get used to it. course was in great condition when i played.
