Replacement for iPing Putting App

Recently the iPing putting app has required a certified Ping dealer login to use, making it unusable for most of the public. Has anyone found or used a similar app/device for monitoring your putting stroke?

There is a new one iPing 2.0. I have it on my phone with the use of the new cradle for putter fittings.

Yup, can confirm the new one iPing 2.0 works fine with an old iphone 6.

I don’t know. I just downloaded the new iPing 2.0, and it’s asking for an Account name, fitter name, fitter email, and fitter phone #.

Not working for me.

I have iPhone 7+. When prompted for fitters info I put in;

ping

ping

ping

Then my home phone number

 

And the app worked for me.

As far as I know, it is only for retailers/fitters. Could email Ping to see if they will send you one?

Did you ever get a response from Ping? Curious to what they said as it would be a great app to use over the winter

I did: “They can be ordered through any PING dealer. We do not take many orders for these any more so the dealer may have to inquire of our Customer Service department for help in ordering it. The suggested retail price is $10.00.”

Late to the party, does anyone have a good recommendation as a cradle? Seems the ping one is impossible to get

DIY with rubber vice clamp and a car phone holder. Pretty straight forward and works fine. Only issues I've had are with getting lie correct, but none issue to me as I just follow change and consistently of lie.

I was worried something like this wouldn’t yield proper results because the phone sensors are not in the correct position?

Get the Blast Motion device. Much better than the iPing app because it's very lightweight. The iPing provided nice data but having your phone strapped to your putter is much too heavy to get a good view of your putting stroke.

 

Only $75 and it's super easy to use. I love mine.

+1 for the Blast Motion device.  Easy to use and gives great feedback.  One can use it for full swings as well, but I have only been using it for putting stats.  It has definitely helped me dial in my putting stroke. Below are the metrics it captures/tracks.

 

SPEED CONTROL

• Tempo
• Backstroke Time
• Forward Stroke Time
• Impact Stroke Speed
• Backstroke Length
• Loft Change
• Total Stroke Time

 

DIRECTION

• Face Angle at Impact
• Backstroke Rotation
• Forward Stroke Rotation
• Lie Change

Agree with the recommendation for Blast.  Good data collector, decent, not great summarization of stats.  I've used it to compare two different putters in sort of a "bake off" and it helped identify one with less rotation.  I've been happier with it the more I've used it, so that's probably an indication that it's solid.
