Reference Pics of Byron Morgan 615 vs Cameron NP2

Thought I'd share comparison pics between my Byron Morgan 615 vs a stock Cameron NP2. The Byron is stainless with Matte Blue finish. 350g at 34" that swingweight's right at D6. I love this putter, much more refined details than the Scotty. Tri sole on the Byron vs round on the Cameron. Smaller and steeper shoulders on the Cameron. Also, look at the top of the neck and corners of the bumpers...Byron did some minor hand shaping on this one. The necks are pretty different. There is also a tad less offset on the Byron. At address, the Byron fits my eye better. Plus the stepped shafts that Byron uses (just like the ones Cameron used to use) feel better to me than the stepless version now use on Cameron's. Any way in case someone wants to know the differences, here you go.

The Byron Morgan to me looks softer on the eye but would prefer it with a sight line.

Man, that is one sexy 615... I am getting the dang itch again!!!! The tri sole looks so good, overall that 615 is way more professional looking than the Scotty. I have a 2016 NP2... nice, but the 615 head is much more quality looking IMO.

To my eye the Byron looks loads better from address. Picture angle can really influence these things though. I’m guessing this one had some hand softening too?

 

I’m also starting to really like the trisole. Put a site dot in this baby and aesthetically it would be pretty perfect.

My only 2 gripes about BM's 615 is the neck location, not as close the face as most NP2's(almost flush), and the 615 cavity is a bit squashed-looking, unrefined if you will. Maybe if the design had a thinner flange look like the 612, it would be better like the old 006.

 

FWIW, I got a 612 and had him shape the sole so it was tri-planar.

I actually like the neck on the 615 being set back from the face more. The neck not aligning to the back of the top line is great to my eye. Just like the older Cameron NP2's. This is the head design the guys on tour like Fowler are playing. On the newer NP2 like the one pictured, there is too much offset. In my opinion Cameron sacrificed performance for aesthetics.

For Byron Morgan I putt best with the 615. The 615 is hand finished by Byron and not an OTR putter.

Beautiful putter. My only concern is that it appears to have too my weight on the toe vs heel. This has more toe flow than the NP2 I assume? I would game one but it has to roll great. I would love to try one out. Can you visit Byron's studio?

I have 612, 615 and multiple Scotty Newport 2. For some reason, I think 006 looks the best.

It will be interesting to see Byron Morgan’s new old 620 in comparison to these and Scotty’s new 2020 special select Newport 2.

The sweetspot of the 615 is dead on aligned with the center of the cavity. The Cameron design is actually heel biased so that the sweetspot is about 1/8" to the heel side of the sightline (or center of the cavity).

 

In use, I cannot tell any difference between the two when stroking the ball. I've owned both and currently use a Newport 2.

IMHO... I think that the Byron looks more softer to the eye in address and up close. although, I like the posistion of the Cameron neck and hosel. Naked or a sight dot.
