McCord and Kostis not Returning to CBS

End of an era. Seems like they've both been announcing since I started watching golf in the mid 80s. I guess it's time for some new blood. I'd prefer former players. Maybe Duval?

Kostis, in particular, was phenomenal...

 

My two favorite breakdowns of all time or when he had a side-by-side of Bubba and Jack who he had flipped left-handed and went over their swings… Jack’s response was “I guess I would’ve pretty good left-handed”

And this one...It’s the closest we’ll get to a comparison of the Jack style reverse C swing to the modern tiger swing

I don't think they need replacements. They still have Nance, Faldo, Baker-Finch, Pepper and Balionis.

They both started making really weird sounds instead of saying a word for a reaction.

Can't produce a big time PGA Tour event with two people on the course. Gotta have a little more help. Need people in the towers and on-course.

I'm indifferent on Kostis not getting picked up. McCord on the other hand drove me nuts. He would talk over player/caddie conversations and ramble on with complete nonsense at times.

I never had an issue with Kostis. I actually kind of liked the swing analysis bit.

 

McCord needed to go a long time ago. He was truly awful. So annoying.

Whoever they name most people won't like them since it appears all announcers on TV are bad LOL. Since Augusta approves who CBS has on the air for The Masters ANGC will need to vet them. My guess is one of the spots goes to Tony Romo.

Long as they always keep Gary. His voice is smooth as a draw of a corncob pipe and a bourbon on the porch at dusk. Whatever that means.

Kostis is a loss, McCord is 100% not. His relevance disappeared about 15 years ago.

CBS just made a statement. Kostis and McCord are being replaced by a dear friend that CBS loves - commercials.

Maybe not replace them at all and just reduce the incessant babbling that detracts from watching golf. Maybe reduce costs and require fewer commercials.

 

Outside the majors I can't even watch golf anymore because the constant commercials.

There is absolutely no chance CBS is going to have fewer commercials now. McCord and Kostis only cost a handful of commercials a year too.

 

CBS’ coverage and production is terrible. Way too little golf shown, but until their ratings dip because of this issue, things won’t change.

Agreed. Also, in the brief times I've heard him do commentating, Nick Price is fantastic.

I did too. McCord was different and I liked that about him. They will be tough to replace.
