Could I ask why?

After 4 1/2 years and no obvious (to me) change in style, format, or general comment suddenly the thread is deemed to be "like this".

Does "like this" mean it just became obscene?

Is there a new Mod with a different interpretation of morality?

Perhaps there are new legal issues?

 

Please explain.

I had no idea what that that thread even existed...so obviously had a look. Wow!! A thread of female golfers wearing skirts or shorts...I guess that there is a very small subsection of the internet that needs that sort of thing. I think the Mods are right though, it doesn’t really need to be on here.

While I don't understand the timing, I always thought that thread did not befit this site. Plenty of other places on the internet to go if that is your thing.

Same here, borderline fetish. On the other hand, no pic was too suggestive or obscene, so it was still kind of acceptable, I can see b ok th sides. The lock probably now propelled the thread into overdrive though!

"Need" to be here - that's an interesting word. Why do any threads "need" to be here?

 

Anyways, if driving traffic and eyeballs to a site qualifies as a need, that thread delivered. 1.6 million views in 4.5 years. If that's not the most popular thread in the site's history, it's got to be in the top 2.

 

There was definitely something a little voyeuristic about it, but pretty harmless all in all. I used it to help me identify the women. I'd go through the thread backwards, trying to see the picture before getting to the name to see if I could learn how to recognise them.

 

Turns out I recognized quite a few when I went to the Cdn Women's Open this summer.

The fact you aren't complaining in the LPGA forum suggests you think the thread merited some sort of extra attention - but I'm sure your avatar is intended as just another pic. ;-)

 

Rules got thrown down a couple years ago, some folks decided to push the limits again a bit and surprise, it's closed.

 

Pics seemed pretty harmless to me and the main person posting lately would have had nothing but good intentions, but not everyone sees it that way or responds positively to what may be perceived as an "eye candy" thread.

First of all, I really do - and all the mods do - appreciate all of the guys here as members. We do. But enough of the fake-outrage PMs you guys are sending me/us.

 

This thread wasn't a way for you to "discuss womens fashion" anymore than if we had a thread full of p orn clips and called it a discussion of cinema. Thats a joke and you damn well know it. If a bunch of mostly dudes wants to peep on mostly Asian golfers in tight outfits - I'm sure Google could find a spot for it. Frankly there are a lot of things we could have on this site to drive traffic. And we dont.

 

I just checked the other subforum where there's an actual discussion of womens accesories and fashion - and wait....I dont see one single person having posted there about a serious issue you want to discuss in womens fashion. And frankly...I'm OK with that.

 

No rules were broken. We just decided this whole idea had run its course. We hope most of you will understand but if you dont, thats OK too.

Thankfully I dont have to be as polite. This will not turn into another mod bashing temper tantrum - although after a full year as a member, thank you for such an eloquent first post.
