WHHHHHAAAA? New Mizuno ST-200, ST-200G and ST-200X Drivers!

From what I've been told, the X is going to be for low ss who needs more speed and higher launch. Guessing the screw in the heel is for some draw bias but not sure.

The 190 line have been a hit for Mizuno as far as I've heard, seen a few around the courses as well and thats not common with Mizuno drivers. If TM or Cally would have released the 190 I'm positive it would have been a top 3 seller this year. Got the looks, sound and the performance, just not the pedigree of the giants in the driver market

I'm sure there's a good reason from an engineering standpoint but the protrusion in the weight track looks goofy. I fit into the g model after getting fit by mizuno last year, anticipating the same this year, I can day dream and pretend it's omitted from the retail release. hope they stick with the sleek black and subtle blue color ways!

Ping is killing it right now and unless they can compete with Ping or TM I wonder why they bother? No offense to mizuno because they make the best irons on the planet but how does it make sense fiscally. I would never even look at it.

C'mon no draw bias and please sit square to slightly open when grounded. I wanted the 190 to be my driver last year but couldn't make it work.

Also, while I'm making unsolicited requests, I hope either the 200 or 200G are deep-faced!

They sold pretty well. More than in the past since Mizuno didn't focus on drivers barely at all. Now, they didn't sell as well as the more established drivers, but they did pretty well.

I understand where you stand, I have a G410 Plus and I love it, but trust me when I say, the ST190/ST190G stands right up with my G410, in every category, the biggest issue with Mizuno woods doesn’t lie in the product, it lies in the consumer and the inability to try them.

Mizuno has been smart with their metal woods releases.

Make a GREAT driver - Keep in priced under the BIG 3 - DONT over produce heads to try and get large forced early "sell in" at retail, only to risk them being discounted - Repeat with a new better driver.

This simple strategy is helping them slowly gain some market share as far as I can tell

its all in the marketing.....Mizuno irons feel no different than titleist or some of the other major mfg's, but ALL the marketing is on feel and "Grain flow" forging.... they are a great product, but they feel no different to me. If Mizuno marketed their drivers and paid top level pros to paly them, they would sell 10x as many. but that's left to TM right now

But they do compete, the 190 delivers as well or better than the rest. The only issue is getting to a point where a fitter doesn't have to hand it to you to try it rather than you wanting to try it from the start, Thats where pedigree comes in the picture and that takes time. The 180 was good but blue, now they got the color down as well so really looking forward to the 200

Can confirm this...After getting my ST190, I picked up a minty used TS with the Atmos 7s Tour Spec for $100 and haven't looked back! There's a really nice used 190G with a 6s Tour Spec in the pro shop for $175, down from the $225 it started at -- and there's a new 190G with the stock shaft for $485 in the new stuff...Don't know why the used one is still there other than the fact that it's not TM/Titleist/Cally/Ping, so no one knows how good it is.

IIRC there was a story earlier this year about how Keith Mitchell went in to test an ST190 by his description "as a courtesy to Mizuno" to give them some pro numbers and was so impressed by it he put it straight in the bag. Or so the story went. Didn't he win with one in the bag? I dunno...

Yes he did. IIRC the ST190 has one PGA win and one KornFerry win as of now.

best irons on the planet? Srixon are just as soft and Callaway and PXG play better in my opinion.

From the article on the main page:

_**More Adjustability in the G**

The one thing we can tell from the picture of the new ST200G is the weights appear to be 11g each in the sliding tracks versus the 7g found in the ST190G. That’s a total 8g of additional mass or—just a smidge under 60 percent movable weight to help alter ball flight as spin. The additional mass in the weights brings me to the conclusion Mizuno engineers must have found some weight savings around the head which could mean either a new structure, internal design, or multi-material to help boost CG adjustability._

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The weights are not 11g - they have small grooves on either side of them that look like an '"11", but are just cuts. Same as the ST190G - 7g each.

you're questioning his opinion while giving your own. because that's what he was giving even if he didn't qualify it. that's all any of us do.
