Yeah I have an Infiniti QX50 used to own a Nissan. With many of the “higher end” brands like Acura and Infiniti you're really paying for badging. Frankly the interior finish on the Infiniti Isnt that high of quality for the price.

Got my pxg 0311 Gen 1 set for $125 per club and a free driver, lower price than Mizuno / Titleist. Very honorable deed by parsons to recognize veterans/1st responders. I happen to like mine very much. We all like different things in life, no need to bash a man because of what clubs he plays, it’s called respect and common courtesy!

I do not hate PXG. I actually find them very interesting. They are polarizing to be sure. I do not wish them to fail but, I also am not going to champion them. If they can succeed, than they should do so. I have no problem with that.

Remember the only bad press is no press.

With the introduction of clothing, and also looking at their website and they also sell PXG branded dog collars and leashes and backpacks and duffels. Not that they don't care about being a performance equipment company - I believe they do. But they are looking for people to buy into the PXG image as a whole. I could argue that Ben Hogan is doing much the same thing at the other end of the pricing spectrum. They are also selling backpacks and duffels. No clothing - yet - but who knows. And both appealing to polar opposite ends of the spectrum. BH to the more button down tradition crowd and PXG to the, well, PXG crowd. And both offer pretty decent looking full bag solutions.

> >

> > Ben Hogan clothes have been available at Walmart for years. It’s actually pretty good stuff. I think the clothes even predates the club line reincarnation by Terry Koehler.

>

> You are quite right and sometimes I forget the convoluted way the Ben Hogan name is managed. The Ben Hogan trademark is owned by Perry Ellis who licenses it out, including to the Ben Hogan golf equipment compamy. As you pointed out WalMart carries a line of clothing bearing the Ben Hogan name and even Roger Dunn golf shops sells/has sold some Ben Hogan branded clothing (a little higher quality than is found at WalMart). So I guess its conceivable the Ben Hogan golf equipment company could introduce a line of clothing as well but not sure what agreements Perry Ellis might have in place that could prevent it.

I would imagine the return to PE from the Walmart deal is far greater than any return from a niche club company could ever hope to be.

> > >

> > > I remember golfing with my grandpa at wright Patterson air base golf course as a kid and there was always tons of vets out. Now as a first responder, I go to a good amount of charity outings chock full of people who qualify for PXG’s discount. Me personally? I couldn’t afford PXG at retail cost. With their first responder discount? I have a set of 0211’s in my bag with an 0811X driver. The clubs have been fantastic and the fitting experience was excellent. They do a great job. Once you get past some of the cheesy marketing stuff, it’s all on the up and I’m grateful for what they did for me and a bunch of my guys.

> >

> >

> > The problem I have with pxg is that their military discount makes them about the and price as everyone else’s regular price. I think they are preying on military. If you want to give a discount, then make it better than the others. Otherwise, it’s simply lip service. You can’t tell me that for every $5000 set of irons they sell at an upscale club member that pxg can’t afford to sell a set to military for less. They are making lots of profit of their overpriced Chinese made stuff. They need to stop with the fake discounts. As a vet, it pisses me off.

> >

>

> First and foremost, thank you for your service.

>

> I'm not sure what you are getting at. If you look at the Heroes Program as getting the 0211 irons ($875 4-G) for the price of the TaylorMade P790 ($1100 4-A) or PING i500 ($1300 4-U), you are missing the point and you are incorrect. The 0211's irons start out at $225 retail ($1575 4-G) and are hero priced at $125 (as low as $95 within the last 8 weeks). That is a massive 45% savings that heroes get over the general public. If you want to argue that John Q. Public is being preyed upon, go ahead and take a number, that is what everyone else is implying too. Now factor in that the heroes were getting a free putter AND/or driver for that price (depending on the sale this past spring)! It was such a sweet program that most folks were buying the package, flipping the irons for profit and getting a free driver and putter. Heck, some were flipping all three and making $500-700. Preyed upon? I don't think so.

>

> Now they even offer hero pricing on ALL clubs. New Gen 2 irons are $295, down from $400 (almost 30% discount).

>

> I get the PXG hate. I don't agree but I get it. However, their military support, in my opinion, is beyond reproach.

You’re wasting your time arguing with this person. Its the same argument he made in the real or fake section, it flopped then and it flops now.

Since early 2003 I played the clubs of two manufacturers. I drive & track german cars because I appreciate their quality far more than other cars. Do us a favor, best check your desire to control free speech of others. Not liking a given OEM product has NOTHING to do with "hate", but prudent choice and I play to between 2-4, probably way older than you and don't buy based on price.

Yes, that's a good number to start but as a businessman sales revenue can mislead reason it's #2. Profit after expenses is #1 or tell all. :)

I totally agree!!! I've been looking at the BMW suv but a 6 figure price tag is a little scary. I guess thats why I've always supported PXG. They're the luxury car brand of golf and they're just cool

Said lots of asian guys want them and don't care if they are more money than other clubs. They just want them. Sort of like guys driving a Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc.

Asian culture is a bit different. It is not very impossible that they buy it as a present for their bosses or people to be pleased

Hopefully they got rid of the jack-hole that put my clubs together, because they were a complete mess. I have never seen such inconsistency through an iron set.

I’ve heard about these issues. I’m hitting my irons well so I’m reluctant to have everything checked. My luck, I’ll find out they’re all over the place and never be able to hit them again.

That guy is a total a**. I haven't checked up on them lately and I have completely muted anything related on Twitter but I am sure they are trying to defend themselves. I am also sure there is a lovefest thread over there about how great he is and that he has done everyone a service by calling out PXG. The thread was undoubtably started by someone he called and told them to start it so it wouldn't look like he had anything to do with it. I know their normal procedure wonder how long before many of these companies pull back. PXG can easily get back into good graces with them by offering exclusives and free product. It would really benefit them with their massive audience of buying power.

It’s called spin. You don’t usually look to trim fat when times are great. We’re those positions direct sales folks or support positions. Fat trimming doesn’t usually start with sales, but other non essential positions. Maybe too much money sunk in lifestyle items like dog leashes.

It really depends on the company and the way they want to be run. I have in the past worked for a company that if your performance scored below a number for the year it was an automatic firing. It came out to 3-5% of the workforce the years I was there. The thought process there was if you want to be the best you have to have the best employees who are always working hard.

... Class products promote themselves with class. There is no doubt PXG produce a classy product and there are those willing to pay for it. Of course nothing wrong with that. But I have never seen _**class**_ promoted with such _**crass**_. Bob Parsons may be a great guy, but his TV ego is completely out of control and his commercials remind me of the very guy I never want to run into on a golf course. Loud, pompous and elitist. The kind of golfer that plays music others don't like at a very LOUD level with their cart speaker, doesn't repair ball marks or divots and takes the cart right next to the green and a few feet off the tee box saving 3 steps and killing the grass. Whether or not any of the above is true, this is what his commercials conjures up in my mind. Can anyone really imagine a Mercedes or Bentley commercial in the same style?

That doesn’t sound like just underperforming sales folks that didn’t make the cut. Lots of spin going on with the news.

In the end, it really does not matter. PXG can do what they want. It is their polarizing nature that spurs the interest here. If they are trying to lean up to stay viable in the long run and doing what is best for their company. Good for them. Thats business and adjustments need to be made. I am sure the story will flesh it self out more as it evolves and people dig.
