PXG 0211 irons - what do you think?

> Keep in mind that PXG measures length the way that the USGA does using a 60* plate. If you take an iron that the USGA measures at say 37" and go put it on a ruler from Mitchell it will measure significantly shorter. This is why you will often see complaints that PXG clubs are short.

Based on my 7i it was spot on and measured same as my Z565 7i. My issue was the 1/2” or 5/8” (long irons) increments were off on some of the irons. So, I had larger and smaller gaps between irons. For example.....7i = 37, 8i = 36 3/4, 9i = 36. Then factor in lofts that are 1-3* off makes for big gapping issues.

Ain't that the truth? However, in PXG's defense, once clubs are to spec, they are amazing. But, it is disappointing that a company that sells itself as being of the highest quality can't seem to get the details right the first time.

Driver: TaylorMade SIM 8* (standard setting) with MCA Tensei AV Raw Orange 75TX at 44.5"
3W: TaylorMade M5 15* (standard setting) with Oban Devotion 8 O5 at 42"
Hybrid: PXG Gen 2 0317X 19* (standard setting) with Oban Kiyoshi Purple Hybrid O5 at 39.5"
4i-9i: Callaway '18 Apex MB's with KBS C-Taper 130X at 1/4" long
46: Callaway JAWS MD5 10S
50: Callaway JAWS MD5 10S
54: Callaway JAWS MD5 8C
58: Callaway JAWS MD5 8W
Putter: Kari Lajosi Custom DD201WB

I had the 0311t for a while in 2018 and the the 0211’s last month. I had always played smaller headed irons, (716 cb and now S55’s), but the 0311t was large and the 0211 was larger. I had difficulty with the turf interaction and looking at the giant heads. I had no quality control problems and dealing with PXG was not stressful. Polite, professional and responsive.

I sent the clubs back after 10 rounds. Since going back to my old irons, my index has dropped dramatically. Moral of the story, you must demo on real grass.

Waiting on delivery of some 0211's I purchased off a member. Never seen or hit one in person but most of the reviews have been positive and the fair price of these at the moment was helpful in me making my decision to purchase. Never thought I would see a PXG pro playing the 0211's never mind Pat Perez. The 0211's in black look impressive.

The performance of the 0211's are great as long as PXG does not completely screw up the specs like they did on mine. But now that I finally got mine to the specs I was fit into, I have no complaints with the performance. And they are definitely one of, if not the very best feeling cast iron I have ever hit.

Like other's have said it's funny how a company selling premium priced gear can't take the time to properly double check the specs before shipping them out. Glad it worked out in the end for you, will definatly get mine checked before hitting them. That is reassuring news hearing they are one of the best feeling cast irons you have ever hit. That's not the first time iv'e heard the 0211's getting positive reviews on feel, looks like an all around great set of irons. Pat fn Perez just made my day though.

The 0211’s feel great. Pured strikes feel totally powerful. They feel significantly better than 790’s to me and my srixon z545’s feel marginally better.

Getting pumped waiting on the arrival of my set, love hearing positive reviews from real 0211 owners. Your saying the Z545's feel better? I had a 545 4 iron at one time, combo set of 545/765/965. Those were great feeling irons, thought the 545 feeling was good but not 765/965. good for obvious reasons. Great feel with some GI is what made me want to try the 0211's, I was tired of waiting for Ping to come up with something in between the i210's and the 410's, thought the 0211's would be close in that regard.

The other day I had an opportunity to try a PXG 0211 7I in my local indoor golf range. The pro shop fits PXG. I've been reading up about PXG and the 0211 for a month or so now. To my eye, they are a really nice looking club! I play 2017 P790 with DG105 Stiff shafts which I really enjoy. So, we set up the 0211 with a DG105 Stiff VSS shaft and I hit both irons back to back. Honestly , I was a little disappointed that the 0211's were not "better". Realistically , there was no discernible difference. The 0211's possible felt a little softer but I really think that was the dampening in the shaft(2019 P790 felt like that as well). One thing for certain, I thought the P790 looked better at address being a little smaller.

Even though I have never seen a set of PXG clubs at any of the courses I play , I think its a solid brand and I like the "edge" to it. I would be more tempted if the Hero's program was available in my country. The 0211's are a great looking club and with the correct fitting it would perform superbly!

Yup. The srixons were marginally better feeling. Not leaps and bounds. Obviously a lot of this is subjective between each golfer but I enjoy my 0211’s a lot.

My Stenson Legacy Blacks are King in my feel department, we shall see how the 0211's compare. Totally different iron make up but we know what we like feel wise. Had some 0311 first generations for a short time, they were pretty good feel wise, but I had way too much stuff and just said **** it all and sold off most of the hoard. Slowly creeping back up. 545 full set maybe on order next:)

? to ? comparison but my Gen1 0311X driving iron feels much softer than the 0211, despite what the marketing department says. Don’t get me wrong the 0211 feels great. Way better than any cast club that I’ve ever hit and nearly as good as most forged offerings.

Check the used market for 0211 irons, Gen1 drivers and putters. I’m sure more than a few vets made a “Franklin” or ten. More power to them, they earned it.

Exact same experience. Figured I'd give these irons a try when PXG had the free driver and $100 putter deal in late summer. Coming from Apex Pro / Dot / MB split set I could not get comfortable with the very large 0211 club heads and offset in the mid and long irons. There was also a noticeable difference in turf interaction, with shots from the rough being considerably worse with the 0211. 0211 felt very good for a cast club and were quite long, but not for me.

You have quite the Callaway combo set going. I just picked up a set of the Dot's off a member, nice looking set of irons. Winter is here so I was only able to hit a few buckets of range balls, so far so good. I snagged a set of 2011's off another member, waiting on delivery. Going to be a long winter waiting for some grass to hit from. What are your finding's on the dot's?

To me, the dots are the best irons Callaway has made in a while, even surpassing the 2014 X-Forged I gamed for 3+ years (an eternity for me!). The dots hit all the right notes -- perfect size and shape, great at address, have a little forgiveness. I wish I would have went dots instead of regular apex pros in the longer irons, they are that good.

Winter is here so I was only able to hit a few buckets of range balls, so far so good. I snagged a set of 2011's off another member, waiting on delivery. Going to be a long winter waiting for some grass to hit from. What are your finding's on the dot's?

That's great news on the Dot's fpyle3, I'm a big fan of Callaway irons, had most of the forged ones. My Stenson Legacy Blacks are my benchmark Callaway, sounds like the Dot's will be a welcome addition to the family.

Have had mine about four months and played a round Friday with them.

I play to a 10-12 typically - typically strike the ball pretty well with irons, albeit with some pushes or handsy big left misses here and there.

I think the feel, size, forgiveness, etc has been pretty well documented on these. What I find when I play them though is how consistent the distances are. With a good strike, I was able to very consistently dial it in within a few yards, which I haven't found as much with other sets I've played (z545, Nike Vapor Fly Pro). Of course, I wasn't always perfectly straight, so not always on the pin, but even with some dispersion having distance under control is a big help. In combination with the progressive set design, they fit what I'm looking for perfectly.

I've read that as a positive about PXG irons in general, and at least personally have found it to be true of the 0211.

The only negative I've found with the long irons, with are generally easy to hit, is that the longer blade length can make it tough when you're in thicker rough or native areas. Nothing unique to this set, but I believe the head size is bigger than, say, the p790, so it may be something to be aware of.
