Perfect performing but too ugly to game?

What does "game" mean? Does that mean to play something?

Correct. I affectionately referred to my G20 3 hybrid as the "Big Toe" as that's what it reminded me of when I looked down at it. One of the best hybrids ever in my opinion.

I think you just need to push through it. Eventually I think you will get "used" to how it looks and it won't seem as ugly anymore. For me the issue is just not giving something chance in the first place purely based on looks.

They're so good I use mine DESPITE its looks. I hate that big red shovel but it's a dead-eye.

Please.

Mine is a gorgeous hunk of flat fade producing metal. Best sounding feeling hybrid I ever hit. Just so solid.

I disqualify 90% of equipment based on looks and feel. Just cannot swing confidently if I don't like the look and if it doesn't feel good when you flush it.........then what's the point?

Deal breakers on looks: set up closed, too much offset, loads of graphics on the crown

Having said that - I putt with a Sabertooth and I really don't love the look. But the ball simply goes in the hole too often to replace it.

I feel exactly the same way, you're not alone. I game a TS3 driver, 3wd, I had a Maltby STiH 3 Hybrid with an Aerotech Steel fiber shaft, srixon 785 4-pw, and rtx 4 wedges.

The Maltby club was just supposed to be a cheap experiment to try out a Steelfiber shaft. I feel like I flushed it every time I hit it and I kept it in the bag for a while bc it was an excellent scoring club at the 230yd range. my master plan was to get a srixon u85 utility and shaft it with the Steelfiber shaft. i hit the hybrid better (marginally) despite identical swingweight, length, and total weight of the clubs. it was such an eyesore (I know, vain, I know) I kicked it out of the bag and ended up bagging the u85 with a dg120 x100 for a lighter weight but similar feel to my ti x100 in the irons.

I realize after typing all this that being a club ho is probably a disease and I should get that looked at.

I remember a lot of the same sentiment(s) when PING introduced the Eye 2 in it's various configurations and later the Zings. Considering their overwhelming success it seems like a lot of folks were able to cast aside their visual contempt and prejudices for performance and the ability to scratch out a lower score.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I am a 7-10 cap depending on how often I get 2 play (2 kids). Currently gaming Titleist 716 CBs and bought a set of the TM790s waiting to be delivered. Not a huge fan of the topline and offset but I can hit them 10-15 yards farther with better spin and decent angle numbers than my CBs. Because of the looks I came across a good deal on some Titleist T100s and bought them to potentially split the difference between the CBs and the 790s. Get some look I PREFER and performance hopefully.

Looks are important to a certain extent. That being said Corey Pavin played VAS irons from early to late 80's, won several times. changed to PRGR I believe and 0 wins, went back to VAS and won the US Open in 1995, so I guess there is something to be said about playing a set of irons that look like Grandma's garden tools.

Also while I am here.... wcbjr.... what the he** is that thing??????

I played a covert tour with a BB7x before it was stolen. I got it from a buddy who was a sponsored pro and his club switched from nike to taylormade. The thing sounded like an aluminum bat, the baby blue shaft and red head clashed. It looked awful, it sounded awful, but ive never hit a better performing driver. I grew to love that thing. It just worked.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As I've aged, I've come to appreciate the beauty of the shots clubs produce much more than the looks of the tools themselves.
