It's close enough now that I probably can't jinx it, but the forecast for the weekend looks spectacular.

LOL.

I'm looking at the forecast and thinking I won't need to pack long pants. If it's cool in the morning I'll just throw the rain pants on.

Okay, just got back from my trip to Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links. By far the best courses I have ever played when it comes to scenery. The greens are super tough along with the whole course. True links style as you can not land balls next to the hole and we even had a guy putt a ball on 17 at the Cliffs from 115 yards per the caddies suggestion. If you can make it out there, you'll hands down love both courses. Pictures can not do the courses justice.

You lucked out on the weather, it was quite warm on the weekend.

I just got back today and had a blast. Both courses are great but if I had to pick, I actually preferred Cliffs over links.

Monday morning when I played Links the wind was a crazy steady 5 club wind with higher gusts. I was hitting 4i into the wind a whopping 100 yards if I played my normal trajectory. Downwind I hit my 3-utility 285, 250, 275, and 280. It died down in the afternoon to much more reasonable 2-3 club wind.

Friday was wild in terms of wind as well when I played the Links. Don't get me wrong the Links is great, but I don't think it holds a candle to the Cliffs. Every hole on the cliffs is a dream!

I think #16 and #17 reduce the quality of the course. Maybe even #15. They are so extreme that they border on goofy golf.

I don't think 15 is extreme. 16-18 are the most beautiful holes I've ever played. I shot +5 77 and played 16-18 in +3 :(

I agree that 16 - 18 are beautiful. The views are spectacular. 18 is a wonderful finishing hole. But 16 - 17 don't belong on a championship-caliber golf course.

I don't think #16 is a problem at all. I played it from the back on Sat with a slight down wind, from the green in no wind, and from the silver into a 3 club wind and only missed the green once.

I agree with you on 17. Without a spotter you have no idea where you ball goes and even if you do hit the fairway the slope is so extreme that it's pure luck where it ends up. I hit the green with my tee shot once and had two balls that I thought would be in play disappear.

Yeah, I agree. 16 is straight on par 3, water/wind make it tough. 17 is just a picture hole, without knowing where to aim you'll never know. We had a caddie thankfully. 18 is the best hole on the course.

I prefer the Links to the Cliffs partly because I have an irrational fear of heights. There are so many tee shots on the Cliffs that literally are on cliffs to me that I can't put a good swing on the ball and I end up in trouble I shouldn't off the tee.

I forgot to mention earlier, on Monday it was so windy in the morning that they came out and wrapped the flags in rubber bands. According to the caddie they do that when it gets that windy or other wise the flags shred. I would also be worried about a flagstick breaking.

I had the brake set on my push cart and the wind still pushed it 20 feet down the fairway one time.

Agreed. Playing in the wind is fine if you just accept it.

It did get me thinking that I need tee club for into the wind. I have a hard time hitting a low trajectory, low spin driver. The two older guys I was with hit low draws that never got more than 60 feet in the air and got on the ground fast which was great into the wind for them. Of course it did them no good at all down wind.

I thought the first day on the Links was awesome when it was super windy. It made have more respect for the British Open. I knew I was in for a treat on the first hole when I hit a pw from 150 right next to the hole and it end in the junk way behind the green.

16 and 17 on the cliffs are all carry.

Was +1 on those holes through 2 rounds. Cabot links is an every day course. Cabot cliffs is just wow. Stirs the emotions. Easy starting hole that kept getting better as the round went on.

No 2 on cliffs is one of the best par4 on that course. Now that’s a tough hole. Makes 16-17 look easy.

Like everything else there, it's really dependent on the wind.

I played both courses three times and had different wind directions and levels each time.

On Cliffs #2 I hit utility iron past the tree that's on the left side of the fairway when it was downwind and on the into the wind day I hit driver to the exact same location.

We played Friday. No wind. We played Saturday. 3 club wind. I actually had the same exact score on both days. Learn to use your putter around the greens. That will save you strokes.

Lot's of links experience here. The putter got a workout from off the green.

Several of the guys I played with did not get the idea of using putter from off the green at first. Once they had a couple roll back to their feet they got it.

id definitely go back; there wasn't anything goofy about cabot cliffs; It required more aerial game/force carried than most links. Don't know if the cliffs were supposed to be links like; the routing of 6 par3, 6 par5, 6 par4 was a treat; had many KP and LD betting chances. the stretch of hole 12-14 is so good and most folks will overlook them anticipating 16-17-18.

Don't understand why 15 was criticized for being goofy. It's an easy par 5 back into the ocean with risk/reward/leftside or right side off the tee. The back 9 at the links was also pure but i felt like i played a similar back9 somewhere before. All is good; great staff; great town; great golf.

Disagree on 16, agree on 17, agree on going back.

If you're not subscribed to their Instagram feed, the short course is scheduled to open next July.

One more full length course and it will be perfect.

Have you played mammoth dunes ? Hole 14 is somewhat similar without the cliffs.
