What club(s) did you hit and were completely blown away by, good or bad?

1st time I hit the original TEE Exotics fw. I was so impressed I found one immediately. Then realized I should have got the 4w as the 3 was literally only 10 yards behind my driver. The ball just exploded off the face. FWIW I've used nothing else in the fw dept since...

I was testing an M5 with a GD MJ shaft yesterday. I was shocked at the feel and distance. Shaft wasn’t a great fit as it was going everywhere, but I think I’ll be testing M5 heads with other shafts. Great looks and surprisingly wonderful sound and feel.

TaylorMade Original One mini driver. Very low spinning head, which I did not expect and which helps me get max distance in a club that is an absolute fairway finder.

Also could not believe how easy it was to hit off the fairway. It kicked my 3W out of the bag. (Although that was easier for me to do than for some because I also carry 4W and 7W).

Just bought a set of Vega VDC-01 irons. Never hit them, only bought because they looked cool. Shafted with Modus3 120. The whole setup came in about 10g lighter than my previous irons. I have to say I love them, they are solid yet soft and when you get a hold of one it flies. Very workable and more forgiving than I anticipated. I was very impressed with everything about these irons, they are definitely replacing my other irons.

I cannot even imagine how far that might go. I typically hit my steel shafted 2 iron about 240. I'm wondering if the Crossover might go TOO far.

The Crossover did go too far and why I didn't end up buying one. The Ping Rep had a Trackman there and I can tell you the crossover averaged 270 with the longest one going 285, the 3 wood he built was going ~250. I was laughing because I have no idea what I would do with a hybrid iron that goes only a little bit shorter than my driver. Also very surprised the 410 3 wood wasn't hotter.

Got another entry: 2020 Cobra Forged Tec irons. Stock with $-Taper Lites. Wow what a fantastic iron. Didn’t think I would question my current setup so quickly.

Can't believe the quality of the new Ping woods. absolutely love them! Also got a forged haywoodgolf wedge recently and love the thing.

Looking for a new set of irons now and am debating the new haywood irons, but haven't seen enough feedback yet, and then also the g410s. Would prefer supporting the new upcoming brands though.

Any thoughts ?

I've been playing TMag SLDR irons w/ stock stiff graphite shafts for a few seasons/years now and they are about as good as it's been for me. I've dabbled W/S FG62 blades w/KBS C-Taper shafts and Ping S55 w/ stock CFS steel shafts. I LOVE the aesthetics and feel of the FG62s but I do value playability when I'm not playing my best. I picked the SLDR irons up on a whim and was completely baffled by how good they felt. My backup irons are a set of TMag PSi irons (4-GW) w/ stock stiff Kuro Kage graphite shafts and while they feel good, they're nowhere near my SLDRs. I play a 2014 Tour Preferred 20* UDI that's butter too. It has an 80g/F4 Recoil shaft and it just works.

On the flip side, I tried the first generation of the Ping Crossover series a few years ago. I bought the 18*. I couldn't hit that thing at all. Traded it in for something else...

I love golf

Taylormade SLDR driver , and Callaway X2 Hot driver.

Everyone at demo day was killing those.

I couldn't get any distance or accuracy.

I did kill it with the original series TM R15.

Couldn't remember which shaft it was.

After that all the R15s I hit were duds.?

Wish I had wrote down which shaft that was.

Popped into GT last night to grab some gloves and ended up trying a couple irons. The first was thrust upon me by the sales guy, TM P790Ti. I was actually surprised how nice it felt. I also thought it looked better in person. But, the star of the show were the Wilson Staff Model Blades with a Nippon Modus Tour 105. They are one of the best looking and feeling clubs I have ever had the opportunity to try. I'm seriously considering purchasing these babies. It seems the smaller the club (to a point) the better I can hit it. Distance was about 5 yards shorter than my current gamer ( according to Foresight). Very impressive .

As a lefty, I struggled to find a 3 wood I really like. I was playing a Callaway Epic 3 wood but it was spinning too much. I decided to try a Titleist TS2 3 wood 13.5 degrees. Found the ball flight I like and had less spinny shots. I'm not sure if it was the degree that did the trick or the 3 wood in general but I love it.

I had this exact experience with the MP-62. I think I had been playing Ping at the time. The Mizunos looked a little intimidating, but I started hitting one buttery shot after another, and then I couldn't stop. They practically had to kick me out of the store. I eventually bought a set and played them for several years. I'm currently gaming P790s but looking to switch back to Mizzy. Just haven't settled on a model. But I could do worse than to just have my MP-62s back.

I got some pretty insane distances out of the G410 Crossover in testing as well. Averaging a total of 265 with the absolute longest getting out to 289. My fairway woods would average better but none of them had that crazy extra 30y when going after one and flushing it. I think for higher speed guys, these modern hollow driving irons have that extra gear when you catch them just right. The spin can drop a lot and produce some measurable gains at the expense of the forgiveness you get out of something higher spinning like a hybrid or your average fairway wood.

Good: Taylormade Raylor late 1980s, four wood with an iron like trajectory, really the first modern hybrid. Titleist 975D gave me huge improvements in distance and accuracy. Titleist AP2 irons with tungsten in the heel and toe, along with lighter shafts makes launching long irons effortless.

Bad: Ping Zings irons. Looked like agriculture implements and couldn’t get comfortable hitting them. Even uglier than the Cleveland VAS irons. Never could hit the square headed drivers that Nike and Callaway sold years ago. Couldn’t get used to looking at them.
