Disappointed in Callaway Preowned

LOL, I've found no in between when I get stuff from them (esp like new)

either brand spanking new, or pretty beat up. No idea why there is such a variance. ALWAYS great about taking stuff back if it isn't up to snuff, but it is disappointing when it doesn't work out

They made good on their mistakes. Sure it was a little aggravating, but that’s life these days. End results matter most , Thanks

Good to know they will deal with shaft only if they make a mistake on that part of the adjustable clubs. Fortunately, I have a couple of shafts that I can use in the driver in the meantime. BTW, what shaft did they upgrade you to?

I have ordered a number of clubs from Callaway Preowned over the past few years and have been very pleased. Most have arrived as good as, or better than, described. I just received a Rogue Sub Zero driver which was listed as "Like New". Club was perfect and looks like it was never hit. I got in on their early Black Friday sale and got a great deal on it.

I have also been very impressed with their trade in program. Their values seem to be as good or better than anywhere else. And, they process the payments very quickly. Plus, its very easy - especially if you get their shipping label.

I need to stop buying average condition, the past few years of buying this grade has yielded nothing but returns (I pay for shipping both ways). A few years back, it seemed as though you would normally get something in fairly decent shape, but now it seems everything in average condition is pretty well worn. I do understand this is their lowest grade, but find it a bit hypocritical to state you will not accept trade-ins with rock dings and browning/rusting but then turn around and sell iron sets that include both rock dings and chrome loss (all rust/browning is polished off, but will quickly return).

To their credit, their customer service is top notch and very helpful. I will continue to be a customer but will steer clear of the average rated clubs, unfortunately the majority of their clubs that are a generation or two old (or should I say, in my price range) are rated as average.

I have ordered clubs anywhere from outlet to good condition. The "like new " stuff usually is most inconsistent. CPO always try to make it right fairly quickly. However, it does get very frustrating when they send a "like new " replacement in worse condition that original order. This seems to be happening more often in the past year or two, but it still beats paying full price on golf stuff.

Erm, maybe the folks in the warehouse have to slow down. This was "Like New":

I don't think the pictures even do it justice. The face wear is really apparent in person. CPO first tried to just get me to send it back to them for 5 of my own dollars, but I talked them into replacing it free of charge.

I've been very pleased with cally preowned...three orders here is my experience. First was a rogue 3 wood 'as new'. They said no headcover, but it came with a standard cover, and the club literally looked like it had never been hit. I just ordered two 'as new' toulon putters and they also did not appear to have been hit. Lastly, ordered five md4 wedges 'as new'. Four were as expected, looking great with only shop wear, but one had a decent amount of ball marks on the face. Still excellent condition but not what I was hoping for. So that evening I emailed cally to see if they would do anything...I woke up and in my inbox were two emails back from cally...first one was an order for another 'as new' wedge with same specs, and the second was a free return shipping label. A few days later I got the replacement wedge and it looked like it had never been hit before. Just sent back the other wedge today.

So I would highly recommend them, clubs are great and come as advertised..and if not, service is superb.

I have to update this particular purchase experience from Callaway because it included a trade in as part of the deal. Because I purchased a putter from them they offered me $50 on a trade-in putter. I sent it back to Callaway and for some reason they returned it back to me because they got the order messed up. I had to call Callaway again and get a new shipping label and I resent it back again and I'm still waiting on my payment. Probably everything will work out fine in the end but it is a bit of a hassle going through this and it's been quite a period of time and I still haven't got my money.

I wonder how their sorting process works. The guy on the phone told me that the warehouse should have picked up on the condition before my putter was sent out (he said this after I mentioned the missing sole plate screw), but I have a strong suspicion that the clubs aren't actually inspected before shipping. I'm assuming that someone sorts them upon receipt of the club from other trade ins or whatever and occasionally clubs get scanned with the wrong condition code.

Not to thread jack but I got off the phone with callaway preowned about the wedge I posted above.

they sent me a rma # but I didn’t realize I had to pay $5 for a label

should I call back and see if they will credit this ?

he told me “good” condition should be playable but I feel like the wedge I got wasn’t even in average condition

The last couple of orders I've placed with them has not gone well initially. Ex 1, ordered a toulon austin. Was sent a garage austin with a slant neck, and not plumbers neck. Had to have a replacement sent out. Ex 2, ordered an epic flash subzero driver in like new condition. Received a head that had marks on the crown that wouldn't wipe off. They wouldn't replace it, but they offered another 15% off to compensate. Ex 3, ordered an epic flash subzero 3 wood in like new condition. First 3wd received had more marks on the crown that wouldn't wipe off. Probably damaged in transit, as the head is shipped unprotected. Called in and they sent a replacement. Received the replacement, and they ended up sending an epic flash fairway, not a subzero. So will need to make another call for another replacement to be sent out. Is it too much to ask for them to take some care in what they are shipping out, instead of trying to ship everything out as quick as they can? Feels like they're just grabbing things without looking and throwing it in the box, just to say they're fulfilling orders quickly. Have to say, it's going to make me think twice before buying from here in the future.

I bet if there was an ongoing thread here where people shared photos of their most recent CPO (or whatever the used outlet) purchase, and what condition it was advertised to be in, the ratings might get a little more consistent.

This is what initially happened when I called about my putter, which was, in my estimation, just about the lowest tier of used quality and not "Like New." I mean, come on, it was missing a sole plate screw. When I expressed displeasure about having to pay $5 to ship back a putter that was obviously mislabeled, the guy immediately recanted and said that they could do a swap instead of a straight return and would just send me a free shipping label. I wasn't rude or unpleasant about it in any way, and it worked. I would call back and ask for a swap instead - they send you a new wedge, they send you back their crap wedge (honestly, I wouldn't even consider that "Average" condition).

I ended up just emailing so they can see the pictures

they took care of it right away, the rep over the phone tried to tell me good condition is 3-4 rating out of 10 will be used but playable

so average is 1-2? Lol he was cool about it

Just got my most recent order: 2 outlet wedges, a good condition epic sub zero, and a good condition apex hybrid. The wedges were perfect and the other 2 were borderline in what I would consider good. They technically fit the description listed for good condition so I can’t be too upset, but they set the bar so high it’s easy to expect “better than advertised” condition.

Got my toulon las vegas. Conditions were okay considering it was “very good”. But they shipped the wrong model (h7 instead of the face balanced version), so now i have to call them..

From the many posts in this thread and my experience, it seems like this is happening more and more. They sent me the wrong model putter, in fact it wasn't even close, on one of my previous orders and had to send it back to them. It's like there is a lack of connection or communication between their sales personnel and those that pack and ship the product.

CPO's stickers are the worst in the business and they're always slapped right on a good-looking part of the club. I swear the residue is impervious to Goo Gone. Ughhhhhhh,
