My number 1 shot an 82. He has averaged a 68 this season. That’s more than a few unexpected strokes considering he should be contending for medalist right now. I had my 3 take a bad ruling leading to a quad only to find out after the fact 4 holes later that the official was completely wrong as he protested to the official, but thanks for the apologies now that my team has 3 additional strokes they shouldn’t have. So, that’s 13 strokes which shouldn’t exist, but golf cares not for should. Tomorrow we go out in a blaze of glory or not at all.

I am super proud of them, but once again I walk away unimpressed with the State association.

What was the rule issue?

You're right, my bad! The actual quote was _"Our target number is 280. If my kids shot over 300 on any track in any condition I’d lose my mind."_

Semantics can be a bitch, but so can outlandish claims in print!

Not really semantics. Nobody said everybody in Florida should shoot under 280. He said that was their goal and they haven’t actually done it this year but it’s possible.

300 is 12 shots back of the lead after round 1. I’d say his target really isn’t that far off. Will take under 600 to win

The goal was to make States as a team after not making it for a few years and have an individual place. We finished top 10 and I had an individual place even with my No. 1 shooting well below standard. I am so proud of them, but next season starts tomorrow.

It was great meeting those of you on these forums who were out there the last few days. I hope to see you at the PGA Show.

What? Are you kidding me? What if someone didn't have a phone or their battery was dead. I would ask to see the rule book. At that, the service they are using is horrible anyway. Often times there are no updates forever. Works really slow. I think I would withdraw and leave.

I am GenX.  If you really think I care about what you have to say, I don't.

They threatened but didn’t enforce that at Regionals, but they were adamant about it when coaches checked in at States. They had a list of every player not registered in the app. I freaked out a little since I have a player who doesn’t actually own a cellphone. We arranged for him to borrow someone’s phone as to not incur the penalty, but they were very up front about it (even if the rule is stupid as hell and the app crashes every 15 minutes).

Yep. The app is terrible.

You mix FHSAA with anything and just wait for things to go sideways.

FSGA just officiates the tournament under the FHSAA guidelines from what I understand. FHSAA still runs the tournament, and not very well.

FHSAA is getting a cut, that is whey they are doing it. They make money from every scholastic tournament they run with exception to golf, I believe. They get you for $10 to park and nothing else goes to them.

Thanks again everyone for the replies to my question a few posts back. One more question for you seasoned vets of High School Golf. What is the normal expectations for the athletes during the off season? I'm in Ohio so between Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day the weather is always hit or miss. We have heated ranges and the golf courses are still open after school hours if there is no snow. We have a few ladies who plan on playing some Junior events but I wanted to get your opinions on what is the "norm." Lessons are a given in this situation. Thanks again!!

We have self directed workouts and there is a developmental league for the non-tournament kids, but for my best golfers it’s time for their tournament seasons to start over (FJT, FSGA, and AJGA).

We make our own. It’s required pre-tournament homework.

Our Spring season was cancelled.  Fortunately, no seniors this year.  We have 3 high 80's Juniors that I hope can play next year but we need a 4th who can help in any way.

In Indiana we play 5 and count 4.
