MP20 MMC’s and T100’s - Best in Class

Recommended Posts

For years I was a Mizuno guy, and thought there was nothing better than a Mizuno iron.

Titleist released the AP2 around the time that the MP series lost a little of its luster, through design and a change to its forging process. I bought the AP2, subsequently became a Titleist guy. Owned every version of the AP2 series, the last two years with the 718 AP2’s.

But always looked at Mizuno irons with a certain lust, and almost made a move on the MP18’s, but resisted.

The MP20 MMC’s, however, were two much to resist.

I now have a set of Titleist T100’s and a set of MP20 MMC’s. So I have options, and two great sets of irons.

I’m not crazy.....just a common, everyday, long time GolfWRX member....which perhaps does imply a certain amount of crazy!

What are the biggest differences you are seeing out of performance?

T100 - Smaller looking top line; turf interaction

MMC - Softer, forged feel; slightly more forgiving

Both look great at setup.

Just my opinion

Love that titleist grind. Do you find the MMC easier to catch a little heavy with the wider sole and no relief?

There's nothing wide about the sole on the MMC's. Nor is the top line thick.

Absolutely loved the MMCs. Great look, tremendous feel and a good club longer for me than my Vapors; surely due to forgiveness and a little stronger loft. Been a hell of a time convincing myself I don't need 'em.

I wouldn’t say the MMC sole is wide, but you are correct about the grind. The T100 is better thru the turf.

Had the last version of Mizuno MMC's. They were very good irons for me. Had a chance to get a nice deal on some Srixon Z785's. First time in a long time I stayed with the same set of irons for the whole year. They are phenomenal irons in every way for me. My buddie is a Titleist junkie. He had the 718 AP2's and now the T100's. Besides a little smaller profile and a little better grind on the sole, I much preferred the 718 AP2's. I personally think most would be wasting some coin on the new model Titleist.

The thinner top line and improved grind are the reason I moved from 718 AP2 to T100.

The AP2 may have had an edge in forgiveness, but just slightly.

Actually went side by side this morning on the range, and then played T100’s on front nine, and MMC’s on back.

Solid front nine with T100’s, and confidence grew as I played the front.

Back nine was not bad, but as referenced by my friend “Balls_Deep” in a previous post, a slightly heavy nine iron on #12 had me concerned the rest of the back nine.

T100’s are gamers.

Don't let it get in your head! I absolutely hate that about this forum at times haha. Especially at this time of year! I just ordered another set of MP20 MB and I'm excited to play them. Hoping they will be in the bag for a while. If I go crawling back for forgiveness, I'll be in a set of 785/ZForged combo or a Titleist combo of sorts.

I own them both. I compared them both on the Quad.

T100 short irons are slighly longer, launched higher and spun more.

MMC long irons are longer and they look better at address.

The T100 'seemed' more forgiving. Seemed like they went through the turf better.

T100 will probably be my gamers ... Still need to test the 785s and 210s.

Yeah they gave me really good numbers. When I played them on course, even with a shaft I didn’t jive with, I still hit a good number of greens and the feel was superb. It’s the opposite of most irons in that a bad feeling shot can still yield a decent result. I’m hoping X100 helps. DG and I get along well.

Worst case you could just go a Vokey 46 if you’re having trouble. I love the MB PW

Very impressed with the T100 at my Club Champion fitting. Haven't looked at Titleist irons in a long time. But I would play those for sure.
